Does anybody here play at Pastimes in Niles? If so, what is the dominant Marvel Modern Age meta there? Just gettting ready for this week's PCQ and trying to figure out what I want to play.
Originally posted by ferak why the hell would they move it from the day of a 10k to the day of PCNY when the perfect date to run it would be the 21st? Oh wait, its pastimes.
Actually if you think about it for more then 10seconds it makes a lot of sense.
People that are qualified for PCNY are probably not going to go to a PCQ anyway because they already have twenty and can't get any more PC points. so having the date against the PC we are more likely to get more people then if we went up against a 10K. All players are likely to blow off a PCQ for a 10K(especially one so close) regardless of how many points they have.
There is no good way to judge what the Meta will be. We get a hodge podge of the meta from Iowa, Indy, St. Louis, and Chicago(occasionally Ohio).
The local folks all seem to be focusing on SS/Crimelords. I was in Indy this last weekend and saw a lot of spiderman curve. So like I said its always been hard to say. Even harder since most of the players will be of amateur status since we're up against the PC.
Do you know if the PCQ for May 14th is for sure cancelled? The reason I ask is because it is still posted on their web-site. I'd call but they are closed today.
Curved Spider Man huh? That's cool. I'm not looking forward to playing multiple Honor Among Thieves. But knowing that will help me choose my decktype.
Originally posted by ferak 20 isnt the cap and any local player with 50 points would still go for the EA TTG(which I hear is already outta print) and $250.

From the Vs System Policy Doc
• To enter a Pro Circuit tournament, a player must pay 10 Pro Circuit Credits.
• Beginning March 1, 2005 a player's Pro Circuit Credits total will not rise above 20 points from participating in Pro Circuit Qualifiers.
• A player may never have more than 50 Pro Circuit Credits.
• Pro Circuit Credits never "pass down" in any way.
I was speaking of the cap on PC points from PCQs not the overall cap of 50.
so what are you saying? That a local player with 50 points would blow off a 10K for a chance at a measly $250? That seems unlikely. I'm pretty sure that any player regardless of the points they have would skip a PCQ and travel to a 10K. Whereas the PC has a very select audience of those qualified, and those looking to qualify specifically for the PC. Therefore we have better chance of getting more people going up against the PC then we do against the Detroit 10K.
Dude, you missed my question. :p Is the PCQ for sure cancelled for May 14th? It is still on their web-site and I wanted to make sure that it was actually cancelled.
I just got an email from the owner. he says the PCQ which was ariginally scheduled for next weekend no longer exists. it was moved to sunday, May 29th so it doesn't conflict with 10K in Detroit.
there ya have it folks...sorry for the inconvience but hopefully this makes it so you can hop off to the 10K and then see us at the end of the month for the PCQ. Hey there's the second day of the yugi sneak peak so you got that to fall back on if you don't hit the cut!
I really appreciate the update on the PCQ, yet at the same time I am now very depressed. The $10K is a 4-hour drive and my wife would have my ass if I went. Oh well, I guess I have two more weeks to prepare.
I would much rather go to a PCQ that is located like 15 minutes away from me, than a 10K that is like 4 hours away!
The PCQ should be on the 21, not the 29.
Saturday is a better day, first of all. (some of us have homework you know.....forgot it was memorial day), but besides that, I'm gonna be gone, probably. I wish it was on the 21st.
