Sorry to seem like a total stooge, but just what is exactly meant by the term "splash" I see thrown around many a thread.
From context clues it seems like playing a card that does not run with the affiliation of your characters or general theme of deck and with no team-up support. It comes out of nowhere and surprises the hell out of your opponent.
Splashing relates to the notion that you've got a 'pool' of cards for a given team, and you're tossing in a character or card from outside that (hence making the 'splash') to get some special benefit. In other words, you're pretty much right; a splashed character is something out of team added in for benefit.
The best example of this is Curve Sentinals. For almost the entire game, you have all Sentinal characters, and then you hit your 7 drop and BOOM Magneto from the Brotherhood. His ability is so useful (and not "team stamped") that he pretty much wins the game for you.
