finally the 10k event has found its way to this country of 7,107 islands. there's event coverage on metagame. a lot of people showed up, a little over 140. this is also probably the last major Marvel Modern tournament for 2005.

I asked a question in the rules forum and probably should have asked it here. Did you notice a lot of decks are running Flying Kick? It is a Marvel Modern format. How are they running Flying Kick?

I joined, it was great... The metagame was much different, I played all 10 rounds and I never ran into a HAT deck or an X-Statix deck...

Flying Kick was reprinted in the FF starter, which became legal for play on June 1st... They ruled the FF starter legal for MMA, and since the FF Flying Kick was legal, the MOR Flying Kick became legal as well (essentially they're the same card)...

if i'm not mistaken, there was a ruling in PC New York that if a card is reprinted, and an edition of that card is legal in the current format, then all editions of that card is legal even if the set where that card came from is not yet legal.

i think this question came up with 6-drop Dick Grayson from the Batman Begins starters being used in PC NY. the starters are legal June 1 but the original print of that card is from DOR. since the Fantastic Four starters have Flying Kick and One-Two Punch, and it is after June 1, then both cards are legal for modern age and the MOR editions can be used

i ran into 2 hats. i guess after 2 successive victories in the PCQs here in manila, people started preparing for x-statix, so the x-statix players switched to other decks. there were a few x-statix players still. i ran into 2 hat players, won one and lost one horribly. i had a bad draw, i keep drawing my high drops so i got murdered by vulture and hammerhead. did you finish in the top64? i am a proud owner of a shiny Have a Blast EA :)

Ahh, I see. I didn't think the Starters were EVER going to be considered Modern Marvel Modern. I thought they were always gonna be considered Golden Age only. Thank you for clearing all of that up for me.

the batman starters will also be part of DC modern, so it will be batman starters, superman, and GL

any updates on the golden age constructed portion of the 10K? :)

the golden age is a PCQ, not part of the 10k. day 2 is a regular PCQ day with sealed in the morning and golden age constructed after lunch. the top 8 of the 10k will also be played on day 2 (which is today, right now ;) )

Choy: Unfortunately not :( I had a good start at 2-0, but a costly mistake during the 3rd round (I evaded 5 drop Spidey against an attack by a pumped 5 drop Dracula, failing to realize that Dracula can't steal Spidey if I pay 5 endurance) set me up for 4 straight losses which put me at the bottom for the most part... I finished 5-5 at the 73rd position :(

i lost my first match. i couldn't really get a winning streak going on, the most i won in a row is 3, i went 3-1 after that then its on an off. whenever i get assigned to a table on the stage, i lose :P i played there 4 times and lost thrice

My team did rather well, though I wasn't able to go with them on the 10K. Family always comes first. :confused:
