Round 1 is said and gone…
Who made it past the first round? Who got left behind? Read on to find out more on the VSRealms Online Tournament. Also included is a special announcement concerning Overload and everyone’s favorite Doctor (and their places in the next round).

Welcome everyone, round 1 for the online tournament went as smoothly as expected. As I stated in the first post we started out the tournament with 77 players, and now, after the first cut, we are down to 39. We had a couple of matches where neither opponent showed or contacted me until after the deadline so I went ahead and forfeited those matches and set up byes for one more round. As before, if you have a bye, enter a 2-0 victory for yourself in the league reporting.

Later this week I am going to be posting a “feature match” from round 1 in the Online Tournament sub-Forum of the OCTGN/Vsed Forum. The feature match chosen from round 1 was profparm vs. JoFo. (Definitely interesting considering both players agreed to play Modern Marvel instead of the standard Golden Age).

For Round 2, I have not chosen my feature match yet, but as soon as I do, I will let you all know who it is going to be. (Probably via PM).

As before with Round 1, we are playing 3 game matches. And as a point of note that needs to be said, TRY TO CONTACT YOUR OPPONENT ASAP. If you are having problems contacting your opponent, I need to be informed of this. This was a slight issue that needed to be dealt with in Round 1, but I am not expecting it anymore (though I did want to mention it just in case). This is still single elimination as well, as we have not yet cut to the swiss rounds.

Finally before I post the results for Round 1 and the pairings for Round 2, I need to make a reference to the most recent errata’d done to Rama-Tut and the banning of Overload. Officially in the VS tournament world, these cards are both legal through July 1st, however, effective today in the Online Tournament, Rama-Tut has received his errata and Overload is banned. Since it is only the second round, if we can go ahead and implement these changes, it will not have as great an impact on future rounds as it would have if we implemented it later. Because of this, these changes are now in effect.

So, as a reminder, Rama-Tut has his errata and Overload is banned officially starting today in the online tournament. Please be sure you note this before you start playing the next rounds.

quick question:
so then we have a chance to tweak/alter /change decks before play if the deck in question has these cards in there, correct?

Absolutely. You can actually change your decks as much as you like between rounds, you just can't change it between games in a match.

this really sucks. my internet was down for a few days, and i won my match, but didnt get to report it so now im out of the tournament:(
