This week's interview is with Peter Sundholm. Peter's a card player from way back and a hell of a nice guy. We talk about where you can find gauntlet decks for PC Indy, what could have been with Dr. Light and what the best X-Men comic title is today.
If you want to hear what Peter has to say, all you have to do is
Very cool dude, I enjoyed it. However, i do have one critism, it has nothing to do with the content, more with something wierd that popped up when I listened. I'm not sure if it's my program, but the voice of Peter sounded a bit choppy. Like those old computer voices, you know Hal and stuff. Everything else was cool, it might just be my programming. But if anyone else has this problem or knows how to fix it, let me know.

That's a side effect of the compression I have to do to make the audio files relatively small. The higher quality files sound better, but a) take longer to download and b) would cause more load on VSRealms' network. I like doing the interviews, but as soon as they cause problems with VSRealms and Typhon's ability to do what the site does best (offer forums for discussion), we'll have to re-think them. Compressing them down as much as possible is a way to prevent me from having to think :-)
Originally posted by big boss man What about compressing them with a program like Win Zip? That might cure both problems.
MP3 is already a compressed format so the gains you get from zip'ing the file as is aren't as great as you'd think. Also, having the file as a .zip file means folks would have to unzip the file before they could listen to it.
I'll talk with Typhon and fatalsync about what the usage increase is (if any) from these interviews. If it's negligible, I'll look at increasing the audio quality of the interviews. Or, if someone has a multi-homed server on a fat network pipe and is willing to host the podcasts, I'll be happy to talk to you.
Hey guys i will ask peter if he can interview again since everyone liked him. If your asking how i can do this is because he lives where i do and we both go to collossal game store and play on friday nights so i'll probably see him tonight and ask him for you guys.
Oh, that's cool. It's not that big of a problem, sometimes it's hard to understand, but you just have to listen a bit more and it will make sense. I have no idea what you said about pipes and networks (I have a low computer literacy, I can type pretty fast though), I think it means do you have lots of computers all hoked up together. I only have one so I can't help there. It be coold if we could get a higher quality, but this is cool either way. It would also be cool to listen to peter again, I thought a lot of what he said was informative. The best part is that it lets players who live in an area where they are pretty much the only player cause no one else talks about it (IE, me) get to know some top notch players and their strategies, the boards do this too, but it's cooler in sound.
