Points are awarded at a PC by giving 75 points to 1st place and scaling down by 1 point for each place till 1 point for 75th and then top 8 gets bonus points, 25 for 1st, 20 for 2nd, 15 for 3rd-4th, and 10 for 5th-8th. Points for a 10k are a little more modified but are similar as top 8 gets 1st - 25, 2nd - 23, 3rd - 21, 4th - 20, 5th - 18, 6th - 17, 7th - 16, 8th - 15.
I assume this includes all the events starting at 10k philly (the first event after PCNY). This is much better than starting at PC Indy, else you wouldn't have much of a season finale, basically some random 10k before indy. Ending things with the last PC of the year brings the year to a close.
I have an issue with the ratings system. I have a pair of 10k wins, worth 50 points, and a 25th at a PC is worth 50 points as well. Winning two 10ks = 25th at the pc?
hell, my mediocre finish at the PC (58th - 18 points) is worth almost as much as a 10k win.
Considering that so many points are decided on tiebreakers 16-32 all had 14 wins, 33-60 all had 13, is it really worth giving away 1 point for each place? For example, Ben Stoll got 25 more points than me for PCLA simply because he had better breakers. Thats an entire 10k win, just for bad breakers!
The points should reflect good win totals, not good tiebreakers at the 4 most important tournaments of the year

i agree with adam, the system needs to be changed:( , but sheesh, the guy wins a couple of ten kays and he wants them to be worth hundreds of points each.
Just to let you know, the season for this posting started with 10K New York and so far has run through 10K Orlando. This seemed good because if I were to run it through the last 10K just before we had Indy, its not nearly as exciting watching standings change as they do right after a PC. It seems better to have the system start with some smaller events and work its way up to the PC and then end with the last PC of the season which last year was New York and this year I think is either Atlanta or New Orleans. It just so happens that last year I don't think there were any 10K's before the first PC of the season and now obviuosly there are.
On the subject of value of 10K's vs PC's and points, there was a lot of discussion about that last time, and I beleive the standings do come out accurate the further the season goes. The 10K's are the type of event where you can gain some ground in the standings but the PC's are really the big show and even just making money there is high on a lot of people's accomplishment and goals lists and should be worth a lot more points.
And on the case of tiebreakers, positions in tournaments are always determined by tiebreakers and there's no much to do to change that. If you use a system based on wins it may be a bit more accurate but its a lot harder to do and there would be alot more ties along with the difficulty of ranking 10K's due to the fact they always have different numbers of rounds unlike PC's. That not really what I'm trying to go for here, I'm just doing this cause I find it interesting and the system is easy to enter into my database and calculate.
There were a few $10ks before PC Indy last year. Atleast 3 that I recall (the 1st $10k in Philly at Wizard World won by Boccio and then another $10k at Origins won by Perlas? and also the San Diego ComicCon $10k won by some mutant nation deck I think).

Actually, I think Bill Hodack won at Origins with Big Brotherhood over CaptainCarl. I only remember this because he wrote a slew of articles proclaiming Big Brotherhood to be the best deck in Vs., period... then went something like 0-3 drop at PC Indy and disappeared from the game.
And Scudder is correct: Quang Nguyen won ComiCon with Mutant Nation. Not a bad deck, but I think Force is really now the standard for Mutant Nation decks.
It's okay if you can't remember the names of all of the people who won those 10K's so long ago, Dalton. Hell, I never can seem to remember who that guy was that got second in Amsterdam! ;)
