Avengers did well with one person going 10-0 one day one with his build of reservists. I'm guessing he and the other avengers people didn't draft well in Day 2.
A lot of people will reply saying you need to draft well and the Avengers players couldn't draft. This was only true for the 10-0 guy, there were no other Avengers decks on 8-2 or greater at the end of day 1 and all of the players in the top 8 - bar Matthew Tatar - went 7-3 or better on day 1.
Unless you 9-0 the draft (Tatar) you still need a good day 1 to make the top 8.
Since we dont have the Deck list yet I just know that Aaron, MJ and the winner of the last 10k(maybe im missing anyother listed before) made the second day.
the only thing we know is that in top 16 (day 1 ) it was just 1 Avenger and it was running System Failure, and that Avenger Beat 2 avengers in a row thanks to system failure... conclution... System Failure is good :p.. LoL
Avengers didn't do too hot as it loses to pretty much every deck played in good popularity at the pc. Avengers even had to deal with CE for christs sake!
Yup Warrans correct as good as Avengers matchups were against CS and some other big decks. CE tears Avengers a new A. Doom really was a fantastic call for the PC metagame.

Michael Jacobs went 7-3 day one with Avengers. Focusing on Avengers seems kind of silly. Why isn't anyone talking about Curve's terrible performance? Or the lack of Titans in the top eight?
It isn't that Avengers is a bad or over-rated affiliation, it is that VS is a great game system. The for every tier one deck there are a few decks that are a bad match-up. Avengers is no different. The real key is to pick the right deck for the metagame.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Avengers is doing what it is doing right out of the gate, no legacy content. Imagine what they will be like if they get their own equivilents of Mark IV and Hounds of Ahab.
portermj: I agree with your last part, and that what impressed me of Avengers... that they are competent in the meta-game right off the bat! I was just asking because, when I saw the top-8 list, I just wanted to know what happened!
Avengers are good. The people just can't draft. Freakin 0-9, the hell? Jacob did well though, would've cracked top 8 if he won the last 2.

I will. I went 4-5 drop with it, losing 2 mirror matches (lost the die roll in both), getting manhandled by Squadron in 2 games and conceeding on Turn 6, and losing to Team Tactics. Beat 3 TTGo! and a CE.
I took System Failure out for Search & Destroy and lost at least one game due to that. I had Null Time Zone in and it certainly didn't pay for itself. NTZ may be good, but I don't see it. I would rather play 3 of each S&D, Sys Failure, Total Anarchy, and Flame Trap before considering NTZ. And it is still a bad matchup against Squadron.
But I'm a pretty poor constructed player, so I went with a deck that I thought would carry me. Oops.
In my opinion, Avengers is an awesome deck, I, myself is piloting one also. Aaron, Michael Jacob and Karl Bown went to Day2 but sadly their drafting skill was not that good againts veterans playes like Mike Dalton.
