In order to avoid cheating especially on big events like PCQ, 10K and especially Pro Circuit.
Would it be better if every move is being checked by the judge? Naturally the judge is there as the Watcher and try not to influence the game.
Similar with chess wherein judges records the cards drawn by player 1 and player 2, the characters on the board in every turn, point calculation and other nuances that is related to the game.
After the event, these are posted in websites like metagame or vsrealms for other VS fans who wants to know what is actually happening there.
Naturally the judges are outnumbered with so many players joining the event and the best case scenario is during the top 8 competition. Wherein there are only 4 head to head and need only 4 judges to monitor them. These could served as a template in future events.
VS is for fun and a pity others would do whatever it takes to win.

There is for the t8 of 10ks/PCs.
However I do not think it is needed. If you really fear your opponent is cheating you you can call a judge to monitor the match. There is really only two people I would automatically call a judge on the moment we start a match, and they are brothers.
Just watch your opponents carefully, during t8 of 10ks and PCs there is usually a lot of judges around who will catch any 'overly sloppy play'.
