I own every Amazing Spider-Man from issue 32 until they started re-numbering. And after 500+ issues, all I can say is WTF!!!!? Why is is necessary to "F" with a perfectly good character? Do they suddenly make Batman grow wings and wear a bright Green costume? Do they split Superman into two different entities and color one Red and one Blue? (OK. They did do that, but it sucked too, and Supes is back to normal now, isn't he?) Do they have Captain America start carrying a big rubber mallet and change his motto to "It's Hammer Time!"? No. Why? Cause the people in charge are smart enough to realize that if you want a new hero/character, you create one. Don't screw with currently loved characters and then hope that the public won't stop reading the crap-rag.
If I still read comics, I'd quit reading Spider-Man now. Stupid Marvel. Give the reins back to Stan Lee. At least he and Ditko knew what a Hero was supposed to be.
Couple of reasons:
His traditional suit shunned the spider within him, and he is now accepting/embracing that part of him. The traditional suit displayed the spider on the outside, as if he would ceist to be a spider if he removed the costume. This new outfit shows he's embracing his new found abilities and his acceptance.

Also it was time for a change.
Somewhat correct but also Tony Stark is giving him the new costume. This costume leads up to the Civil War event and will test Spidey's loyalty with Tony Stark. The overall design is cool but the color choices are not Spidey:cry: Thank god I stopped picking up Spidey books cause they are butchering the character
Um, guys, give it a year. Seriously. It will be like it never happened come this time 2007. They're not going to make any major permanent changes to one of the most recognizable characters in comics history anytime soon, especially not with a new movie coming out.
a new costume does not change the character inside or out, it just changes the look. the colors are because Tony Stark said my design my colors. besides no everhting stays. you try new things and if they don't work you stop with what is not working. thats how the world works.
