News on UK and Ireland Pro Circuit Qualifiers
"Upper Deck Europe will no longer be able to offer Pro Circuit
Qualifiers in the Twin Format. From February '06, European Pro
Circuit Qualifiers will consist of a single tournament. Prizes for
each tournament will remain unchanged, putting the same cash and
cool promotional items up for grabs!
This decision is based on feedback from both players and TOs as well
as Upper Deck's own analysis of Pro Circuit Qualifier and Pro
Circuit attendance. We are confident that the change will help grow
the Pro Circuit Qualifier program across Europe."
Furthermore, all UK and Ireland PCQs will be Sealed Format. Constructed premier events will take the form of VS City Championships (details below)

VS City Championships
The City Championship program has come to the VS System card game!
We are now taking applications for TOs to host City Championships in
a bid to crown the best players in the UK and Ireland! The format
will be Marvel Modern Age constructed (Marvel Avengers and Xmen) and
like all our Premier Event programs, we shall be supporting the City
Championship with some great prizes (promo cards and trophies for
starters!). The City Championship program runs from March to April.
10K Event
And finally, to end on a higher note, we are please to announce that we have approval to run another UK 10K Championship in May! I will provide more details (location, format etc.) as soon as they become
available!
Ray - when it says that prizes will remain unchanged, is this in comparison to the total prize support for the old split format system, or is it just axing one half?
And although I generally prefer constructed formats, this change seems fine.
Further news on the City Champs prize support will be eagerly awaited ;)
<edit>
Also, pleaaaase make the 10K somewhere sensible. By which I obviously mean London.
I hope that once it is all finally sorted the number of PC points up for grabs in Europe remains at a similar level, either through more PCQs or through points at the City Championships.
Will there be any option of holding constructed rather than sealed PCQs at some point in the future? Fanboy 3 tries to hold 4 a year and I am sure that most of the people who attend those would prefer to alternate.
birmingham would be a good place to hold a 10k or in general somewhere in the middle of the country. on the other news what about nationals? i herd that weweregetting them as well and that the top 50 get an auto invite :D
Nationals would be fun. I think the game (especially in those parts of the world with no Pro Circuit to look forward to) does need to build up a more rounded tournament programme to keep peoples interest up. Without an accessible PC to work towards, something like a Nationals (maybe with a -paid- trip to a PC or Worlds event for the top few) would fill what is a quite serious gap for some players.
Originally posted by Draconis Yeah, but it's MILTON KEYNES. It's bad enough saying 'I can't, I'm playing cards this weekend' without having to add 'IN MILTON KEYNES' on the end.
Hey, it's a bit better than saying "in Luton" (where I live). It's a couple of miles up the road, but at least you wouldn't need inncoulations to play in my town.
In all seriousness, MK does have some decent convention venues and is a bit more central. Birmingham would be a good pick also.
