Im thinking its a keyword for: "Characters you control, as well as in your deck, hand, and KO'ed pile that have either affiliation have both affiliations.
i guess something like>
Characters you control, as well as cards in your hand, deck, and KO'd pile, that have eithe of the chosen affiliations have both affiliations.

In a nutshell, crossover is an easier way to say “team-up.” I’m sure Mike Hummel will have more to say about this new term in future articles, and Paul Ross will clarify any rules questions you may have in a future Cerebro.
