So, it's official : Nyssa will be the fancard crossover character , and I think it is a great choice ( sorry David Cain fans, though he'll probably have his day in the spotlight ) . So what is everyone's ideas for the art that should be for Nyssa ? In my submission, I decided to focus on an experience that would determine much of Nyssa's future : her imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp. Here is my idea that I sent to Fan Card Crossover that I copy and pasted verbatim. Here's hoping it makes it in !
"
I imagine a very stark image from Nyssa's time in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II, a time that saw the death of her entire family and herself being subjected to horrible experiments. The time left Nyssa scarred but determined, and her experiences would later compel her to attempt to assassinate her father Ra's Al Ghul by brainwashing her half sister Talia and would later drive her to became an heir to Ra's' empire.
Setting: A concentration camp during World War II, lots of greys and dark shades. Nyssa stands out thanks to the paleness of her skin and the bright color of her eyes .
Action: Nyssa stands solitary behind a jagged barbwire fence - the setting is grey and solemn, and ghostly figures move behind her, their faces blurred slightly by their movement . Only Nyssa is clearly visible, pale and drained but with a angered, determined look on her face . Only her eyes are filled with color One of her hands reaches slighty upwards, the other is held near chest level : both hands clutch at the fence, Nyssa stands staring outwards to the viewer. Her jaw is clenched - every muscle in her face conveys a sense of anger and pain. The loss of her family is etched n her emotions.
Focus: Nyssa's emotions as conveyed by her facial expressions.
Color Focus: Lots of greys and dark shades in the background, with a pale peach color for Nyssa's skin and bright green eyes that stand out against the sadness of the setting.
Keywords: Anger, Pain, Emotion, Determination

So what does everyone think ? I happen to think its pretty darn good :p , but hey, I'd like to see other peoples suggestions too .
Sounds awesome. I don't know anything about the character since I don't know much about DC comics, but that paints a really good picture, and I think it would look awesome drawn by the right artist!
Hmm.....maybe we can vote for the artist. That would be cool.
Setting:
A completely Green background with undertones of black for shading, with Nyssa rising from the Lazerus pit.
Action:
Nyssa is proped up on her hands, Emerging from the lazerus pit with a sinister grin on her face, most of it shadowed, what isn't is lit up by the eerie glow of the green liquid. only her intense green eyes and malicious grin are visible on her face.
Focus:
The triumph over Ras' is relevant from the grin on her face. also the eyes give off a sadistic glow. (the foil of this would be awesome!) the surroundings should create kind of a circle, arcing to increase the view of Nyssa.
Color Focus:
Mostly Nyssa's eyes. bright greens and deep blacks. maybe a gold bracelet or two.
Keywords:
Sinister, Triumph, Malicious, devious.
I don't really agree with FF becuase that makes Nyssa sound weak, like a 3 drop quality. I picture her card more along the lines of her later years, after the defeat od Ras'. Although the mental picture of her is just awesome.
I really like the collar. Ima focus my description on that.
This is what I got:
Portrait Piece
Setting: A room filled with rich rose-colored smoke which turns into phantom dragons.
Portrait: Nyssa is letting her twisted beauty crawl through the painting. She is slithering into your mind. The bottom of the painting starts at her bosom and cuts off at the top with her shining hair disappearing into the smoke. She is exotic and beautiful, but she will kill you in a hearbeat like she did her father.
Focus: The folds of Nyssa's green collar, twisted and full of chinese dragons.
Color Focus: The delicious contrast between the green of the costume and the rose-colored smoke.
Setting: The interior of a tent in a desert camp
Action: Nyssa is standing over the corpse of Ra's al Ghul. Blood is dripping off of the knife in her hand and she is surrounded by people bowing to her. A shocked and determined look should be on her face.
Focus: Nyssa herself and the knife in her hand.
Color Focus: Nyssa's face and the knife.
Keywords: Sinister. Dangerous. Tinge of sadness.
Reference: Death and the Maidens #9
As far as 'iconic moments' go ... standing over Ra's corpse near the end of the Death and the Maidens is definately the big moment for Nyssa. I sent in a similar description [albeit it with the focus being on her face and it's lack of emotion].
The one thing I'd really like about the card? Is getting a different artists interpretation of the scene. In the comic it's a cool moment ... but the art style is not really one that 'works' for that kind of moment. Also, chaning the angle to one where it's more of a worm's eye view with Ra's filling the foreground and a heavily shaded image of Nyssa looking down with contempt would be sweet.
And of course ... the flavor text MUST be "The Demon's Head is Dead ... Long Live the Demon's Head"
It seems to me that most of the comments so far sound more like plot twists rather than characters. I am not saying that is a bad thing, just thinking about our existing characters in relation to the scenarios we are hearing for the Nyssa card.
Are we saying that the character cards should tell more of a story?
Ya know... I might be a cynic (and I am) but this just feels a bit contrived. When i first heard the vote came up LOA, I immediately thought it woudl have to be a new charatcer... with Evasion.... to help their stunned theme. Something they don't really have.
As soon as i saw the 4 choices, Nyssa came immediately to mind......
A 1 drop, with Evasion. She says you are considered to control Ra's... and when she comes into play, search your deck for a Laz Pit. Nice and tidy, thats what i thought.
Just seems like this is all steamrolling toward that conclusion, or something very similar. And as cool as their offer to help is, it just seems like the input isn't really diverging form what is already writen on the wall.
Let people submit complete creations... pick the top 10... put it to a vote... now THATS creative input.

I'm fairly certain that a large number of people either chose that scene or her standing over a broken Talia. Those are the two moments that define the character, IMO. :)

Yeah, those were the two i debated between; they're both such great shots (the one with broken Talia is the cover of Book 6 of Death and the Maidens). I eventually went with the one of her standing over Ra's.
I wonder how they'll deal with many people submitting similar suggestions: first to submit? first to have the comic reference? what they think is the best description? picking randomly?
Unfortunately I only know as much about Nyssa as Wikipedia will tell me. That said, I hope an art description with her at the height of her power, in control of the LoA, wins. Then maybe she could be a 6 drop that counts as Ra's Al Ghul and lets you discard locations for some sort of bonus (think Bastion). LoA really needs a good 6 drop that lets you play Shiva, helps you on both initiatives and lets you turn your extra locations (which you'll have) into something beneficial. I'd like to see another team be good in Golden I guess.
