The ebb and flow of the competitive metagame fascinates me. Every once in a while, something truly revolutionary appears and changes the game forever.
Do you think we will see a new trend burst into the environment in Atlanta? Will it be like Glock, where the innovation is not quite ripe for its debut Modern Age but fully blooms later? Will it be like AGL, where it needs two cards from the next set to arm itself properly?
What are your favorite revolutionary movements? (They have to be something that stuck. Like, it can't be Number One Dream since that won a battle... but not a war.)
Since I ran glock in Indy(before it was really glock) that would be my favorite.
As for this set, I see some really innovative things coming out in golden and even more so in silver when total anarchy won't kill the morlocks. Last stand and ratcatcher could be some fun.
The transformation of Sentinels from Jank Wild to Styling Curve is along the same lines of AGL. Of course the impetus of that change was none other then the Spiderman set. Of course that was about the only worthwhile thing to come out of that set.
In the future someone will break the spider friends, and Iceman will become the huge monster we all know he is.

Awwwwwww...
Actually, I think my favorite revolutionary moment was the last 10K Orlando. With Niles making Top 8 with Squadron Supreme and Jacob winning the whole thing with Avengers, it represented a HUGE shift in the metagame. Everyone thought that the robots would rule forever... until decks with no hands and no face-up resources laid a huge hurting on them!
My second favorite revolution would be 10K Arlington 2004. That was the first 10K after Web of Spiderman became legal. This was also the tournament where Dave Spears started the robot revolution by taking second with Curve Sentinels. While I may not like the Sentienls much, you can't deny the impact that they have had on the Vs. System metagame. And 10 Arlington was where it all began.
truely revelutionary cards are the legacy cards that make a whole deck work; cards like Chomin and Sentinal mark V. I mean, how good is a card that turns an utterly garbage deck into a Teir 1 deck?

I couldn't agree more. That event was one of the highlights of VS. System to date (imho)
