Arms-fall-off boy. Or maybe matter-eater-lad? Both in the Legions of Super-heroes.
Hopefully they'll make an appearance in the next dc set after crisis. That's the main reason I want to play Legion of Superheros. What? You're using Superman against me? Well, FEEL THE WRATH OF ARMS-FALL-OFF-BOY! :) :p
Truly, the people declaring Superman as the worst super hero created can't be serious.
The guy is embedded in the consciousness of popular culture and has profound historical relevance; see Nietzsche, World War II, Siegel and Schuster, et al.
Also, I recommend reading "It's a Bird" by Steven Seagle if you honestly think Superman is the worst character ever created.
Originally posted by Jaeger I like all the suggestions for pretty bad superheroes, but in all seriousness, Superman is the worst.
Why?
He's TOO good.
There's no challenge involved. At least other heroes have to overcome the odds when battling foes.
Seems like splitting hairs and treading dangerous territory into comic book dork bickering, but Superman is not too good in the context of the funny papers: he was mind-controlled by Maxwell Lord and could absolutely do nothing about it. An event which leads to beating a friend into pulp and forcing another to take a human life, is not a challenge, but a solid defeat.

Seems like you sir are a very welcome addition to this community. Please split hairs around here more often. Especially if Throwing Muses comes with your screen name.

My vote whole heartedly goes to the Captain America.
Superman may be too good, but at least he's got kryptonite which is reaching dispenser-level popularity in the DC world.
Captain America does pretty much everything Superman does without any appreciable powers: he's tougher, stronger and faster than a human, fair enough. So is Mr. MTV - Luke Cage. But Cap doesn't get hit by bullets and boxes with the Hulk... why?
Worst example was in Secret Wars, where of supers present at least 2-3 had powers to destroy entire worlds in an afternoon, and Dr. Doom expects... Captain America to be the one to make it into his fortress, because the power of an american passport is clearly greater than any other conceivable.
Superman may bee too good in the sense of his insanely virtuous way of life and the general refusal to steal cookies from the jar in an empty room in his family home, but power-wise he's just another Hyperion/Libra/etc. and Photon would have kicked his blue boyscout butt across time and space.

I used to have the same complaint. I really hated how he could do anything with pretty much no problem.
But honestly, Superman comics are usually well written. Interesting. A lot of the time, the danger isn't to Superman himself, but to other characters. It's not, "Will Superman win or die?" but instead, "How many people will die before Superman wins?"
A good writer can make all the power Superman has completely irrelevant. Or at least, interesting.
Of course, that's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. And Superman isn't my favorite superhero by far (that honor goes to Spidey).
But I don't think the fact that he's "unbeatable" should give him the "Worst Superhero Ever" label. After all, there are lots of heroes who are as powerful. Plus, all heroes are (on any given day) just as unbeatable. Heroes never lose.
