Apparently (in some press release), I have not verified, there are only going to be around 800 Marvel cards available for the game. I can't find the press release though to verify.
But, I can verify I have only seen images of cards up through MAV in relation to the Konami game. If you include all the Marvel cards from MOR to MAV, that gives you 853 cards (including FF starter). With the X-Men set and starter you get 1105 cards.
So, this seems like the game will only come with cards up to MAV. Not sure when the release date is for the game, but it's going to be at least 2 or 3 sets behind.
Anyway, maybe they will let you upgrade to the new sets via the online "store" and what not.
Anyone have the press release that states the "800" number?
Well, looking at the press release stickied at the top of the page, it says Konami was in booth #800, so maybe this is where the number is coming from ? However, of all the cards being shown, you are right about no MXM. But one of the backgrounds of one of the players in this screenshot (http://www.pulparcade.com/gallery/al...rvel_pc_03.jpg) is of Phoenix Rising, so who knows. Would't surprise me if it wasn't featured though, or maybe they just didn't have the assets for the MXM cards when those screenshots were made ?
Ah yes. I didn't notice the Phoneix Rising image. Good catch.
Ya I was thinking that too. These screens might be "old". They may not have had access to the MXM images or cards when they were demoing up this stuff.
Check out the player's hand. Yep, it's Cyclops, Blue Leader from MXM. In fact, every Marvel set is represented in this pic except for MXS (even MFF) so I'd be surprised if it wasn't current as of MXM (it might not have Heralds when it's released though).

I was paraphrasing, but here's where I got my info:
"This Fall, Konami is releasing Marvel Trading Card Game, a card based-strategy video game featuring the Marvel Universe, for the Nintendo DS™, PSP™ system and PC platforms. Based on the best selling trading card game from Upper Deck, Marvel Trading Card Game allows players to collect over 800 cards based on their favorite Marvel characters and compete in cross-platform online play in a variety of different modes."

DC might be down the line, but I can imagine legal reasons ( i.e. DC videogame rights being exclusively tied up elsewhere maybe ) has a lot to do with it . Perhaps they will eventually relase them as seperate games that are compatible with one another ?
