PLOT TWISTS: 18
4x Enemy of My Enemy
4x Spin Doctoring
4x Mutant of the Year
3x Die For Darkseid!
3x Mind Over Matter
LOCATIONS: 9
4x X-Statix Cafe
1x The Hill
1x Shaw Industries
1x Kang Krossroads
1x Fortress of Solitude
1x Slaughter Swamp
EQUIPMENT: 4
4x Doop Cam
TOTAL: 60
Here's how it works. I want even initatives. Doop searches out the Doop Cam, which gives all affiliated characters X-Statix affiliation. Kelex searches out whatever location I need at the time (and since he's Superman, I would probably go for the Fortress to flip it on 3, unless I need Slaughter Swamp against Squadron. Fortress only needs to be flipped by a Team Superman guy, and gives solo defenders +2/+2.) Orphan is there as a wall, and not to fly solo unless I need it. I start flying solo on 4 with Alpha Centurion, who gets +2/+2 if there are no ready characters. I should have 3 location pumps at that point. Hal is a 12/12 by himself solo on 5. Zeitgeist is an auto-stun. Anarchist is my safest bet on 7. If I need to go to 8, I fly Spectre into a character to get stunned and stun everyone else. I use Vivisector to cover and burn in any missed drops.
Enemy of My Enemy gets my characters, Doop Cam transfers around to keep them X-Statix. All the locations give at least +1/+1 to solo characters, except Slaughter Swamp, which is tech. Since I'm only using 1 of Krossroads, Hill, and Shaw, I won't be stuck for extras and they'll stack. Die For Darkseid, MOTY and Mind over Matter cleans out finished characters. Spin Doctoring is a given. Mikado and Mosha is tech.
Problems: Not enough characters. Spectre is not searchable, nor X-Statix (not that I really want him to get the pumps so I can stun him.) Doesn't seem to have enough KO power unless I really save up my MOTYs.
Debating the following cards: Never Give Up (4-drop PT, on your first attack, KO another character of a different affiliation and ready attacker), Absolute Domination, Dead Weight. Ra's Al Ghul (Batman starter) on 7. Also debating mixing up the drops with X-Statix characters on 4 and 5 to save or use Enemy of My Enemy depending on the situation.
Hopefully you can see how the deck works. With a good draw, I can have Alpha Centurion as a 12/11 on four, and Hal as a 17/17 on defense on 5. Should work well against AGL and burn decks.
Well, even better! Does he also get the Doop Cam abilities? (I couldn't attach it to him because he's concealed, but would it work if a different character had it?)
How dare you. How dare you! How dare you? You came up with a completely original deck! If you meet the standards needed I'm loving how those 4 and 5 drops are looking. I really don't like the X-Statix 7 drop, because I've never seen his ability used. You could try the Ra's but I'd be afraid that's too many teams and something could go wrong, like Doop Cam being KO'd. If I were you I'd do a search of 7 drops on the deckbuilder and see if you can find something better. LMK.
Well the only flaw i see in this deck is that you wont be able to use Spin Doctoring on your 4 and 5 drops because when they get stunned the Doop Cam will stop giving them the X-Static affiliation...other than that is a pretty nice deck...
The only thing i can suggest is adding two of the loacations team up (Metropolis, Stormfront 1, etc).
If Doop Cam doesn't work out I'd suggest Metropolis. You'd still be able to search with your 2. I realize your using Anarchist as your 7 drop because you don't have to worry about team stamped effects because he's X-statix, but I did check out a few alternate 7s. Since you have even init. Krona is a brick and provides you an 18 def. Considering you're looking to have 4-5 locations out Rama Khan could be beastly netting you a plus 4/ plus 4 for 2 turns. Lightray could net you 7 endurance. Genis-Vell is risky, but is ridiculously beefy. Krakoa's beefy and nets you a late location. The best 7 I found while taking even init. is Rogue from the last X-men set. She could gain enough endurance to get you to that 8th round. What do you think?
Good call, Mephisto... I hadn't thought of that. I was reluctant to use Metropolis because I didn't want to waste Kelex on a team-up when he could fetch other good stuff. Plus, Metropolis will only cover 2 teams when I'm really running 3. Any other suggestions? A Day Unlike Any Other, maybe?
I don't want to stall to 8 if I don't have to, so I don't really want Krona or Rogue, and I don't like Genis very much. Krakoa or Rama run into more team-up problems, but both are decent options.
I guess u would be better off with Poison Ivy and some underdroping in the 3rd turn...with Ivy u can search for more locations than with Kelex and u can save the discards. If u do this way you would have better chances against off curve decks because you will have more field pressence during the first 3 turns...think about adding free costed characters so u can do the Ivy search easier, the best one i can think of is Jacob Lee and he would fit nicely in here because u can give a good use to those duplicate Cafes u draw later...
The thing about running Poison Ivy is that she's yet another team affiliation and won't be good for yanking off the board (although I have considered her instead of Kelex.) I'm thinking Beetle Mach 1/Metropolis, so he and Kelex can search out the team-up if needed. Dead Weights instead of Mind Over Matters to try to prevent getting stunned altogether. Rama Khan as the 7 to take advantage of all these locations. (I feel like I'm running Checkmate here.)
I'm not sure there's any way to get Hal teamed-up with X-Statix if everything curves right. I may have to run Henrietta as my primary 5 (which stinks.)
BRAVO!! BRAVO!! I love it. I had thought about putting something like this together. I looked at Hump for 4, but the physical discard was to hard. Centurian is great! And he helps you get Fotress of Solitude online. Another thing to think about: Forced Aleigence. It might work. I love the concept though. I also liked Donald Peirce as backup to Zeitgeist. Sometimes you just need the extra beef. Good job!

Actually, Spectre is searchable with EOME. You can discard an affliliated character to search for an unaffiliated one. It's in the FAQ.:)
Nope---you're thinking of being able to discard an unaffiliated character card for Enemy of My Enemy, which is fine and lets you hunt down any affiliated character card. But the text on EoME specifically limits you to searching out affiliated character cards, so unless you've got Crisis on-line, you can't search for Spectre.
And the suggestion to use some location team-ups is a good one, but remember that Metropolis doesn't have the Team-Up version, so a character like Beetle can't search it out.
I'm glad someone's trying out the deck idea, though. I was looking at Superman/Fortress with X-Statix way back, but I couldn't make even the planning hold together. This looks fun, nice thinking.
Well, that pretty much rules out Metropolis altogether for me. UN Building requires three teams, and I rarely will have three teams online. Using Jacob Lee might mean getting stuck with a character on the board and no way to get him off. This deck is much harder to clean guys off the board than other X-Statix decks. Forced Alliegance sounds pretty good, as it'll stick around for a while. Unfortunately no way to search for it... 'course, Checkmate Safe House isn't unique and is searchable with Kelex, Poison Ivy AND Beetle.
EOME's drawback doesn't bother me much, BTW. The goal is to win, not stall till 8. I want an aggressive Statix deck for once! I want people to say, "Oh my garsh, I'm getting the tar beat out of me! I need this tar to survive!"
