Who was it that wanted to bet how stagnant the Silver Age metagame would be?
Wow. With 96 players in the Hamilton 10K, these translate roughly to percentages. This happenend this morning at our PCQ too, although FTN Voltage was 25% in Coral Springs. Wow.
"Stagnant" certainly isn't the right word to describe Silver, but "varied" isn't quite right either, because there's a lot of... sameness... to the decks. Just about everybody who could ran 4x Enemy and a selection of the toolbox characters you'd expect (Black Cat, Sage, Kang Cobra, Hawkeye, Deadshot, and in a few inspired cases Floronic Man as anti-Checkmate meta). There's very little in many decks that's team-specific as a result; the bulk of a lot of competitive Silver Age decks are useful generics or teamstamped cards with a good generic function (Slaughter Swamp). The result is a metagame that's strangely flavourless for the most part. I'm curious to see if the impending disappearance of Ivy League changes that for the good or the worse.
The Professional Events dealer had about 12-14 copies of Enemy of My Enemy, priced at $45. They sold out of it. Take that as you will.
I only have two Enemy, so I ended up running a non-toolbox Good Guys build. If I could have found a third for trade (har, fat chance) I would have run my Energy mutant burn build, which was a far more effective deck on the whole. Anyway, with only one major glaring mistake in my Good Guys build (forgetting to put in Hi-Tech Flare Gun - and I meant "forgetting" not as in "damn, I should've put that in the deck" but as in "damn, I left the HTFG at home on my dresser and nobody has another copy they can lend me") I went 6-4 and got 22nd place, and I'm satisfied, competition-wise, with a money finish.
I think at least Sage is still good tech because it keeps Rook Control from getting flipped to move Merlyn. But, heavy tech against Ivy League won't be needed anymore.

Big ups for chdb!!! Congratulations my friend, that is solid, especially without Enemys!!!
Of course I disagree with your semantics, but I applaud your performance. Good job.
