4-Drop Dr. Doom would be a great card to do alternate art for, in my opinion. It's highly played, and really has a very flat look.
Twist of Fate is one I'd *personallyy* LOVE to see redone with some new art. Maybe Marvel Team-Up will bring us a better SpiderFriends character-search, but that aside, until I get 4 enemy of my enemies, I would definetley have room for an alternate art Twist of Fate. Really, that bright yellow background needs to go.
3 drop Wolverine from MOR, he needs an alternate art card :cheeky:
Lol, that's a joke right? He's got 2 alternate arts and an extended art of his original picture. Maybe I'm just dense, but it's hard for me to read sarcasm in text sometimes. =p
As for Superboy Prime, I think the artwork looks fine, HOWEVER, you do have a point in that it's a little ... uhm ... uncharacteristic of the character.
Here's what (I think) is the most recent depiction of Superboy Prime. I do see the inconsitency. =)
For the record, 7-drop Thing alerady has an alternate art card, available with the Marvel Legends figure. True, that makes it just as hard to get as the Iron Man Cover Fire, but on the plus side, I doubt you'll be wanting to put 4 7-drop Things in a deck.

absolutly. there is the normal Wolvie from MOR, the EA of that one, the Alternate EA from the deck tins, and 2 other alternate arts (i know one was from the toys, dont remember where the other is from, possibly a differant toy.)
you can play 4 of the MOR Wolvie (3), play 4 differant artworks and not have one of them be the acctual card that comes out of the MOR packs. its rediculous
They need to make a more accessible alternate art for Cover Fire. The Iron Man art that you can only get with the figure is too hard to get.
This brings up a good point I think ... should UDE be printing more alternate arts and fewer extended arts? Personally, I'd much rather get an alternate art as a prize than an extended art (assuming the alternate art was at least as good as the original).
On the other hand, is it practical for UDE to produce (and therefore pay for) the extra art? Is alternate art just a waste of VS budget?
I don't know the answer to these questions, but assuming they DID have the extra money for another alternate art or two per set, I'd say make one of the Hobby League cards Alternate Art, and make one of the Sneak-Preview cards alternate art. A good mix of EA and AA might be the best way to go.
Also, although I'd have them be included in Hobby League and Sneak-Previews rather than PCs and 10ks, I would make them the prize-card rather than the participation card, so you still have to win them.
Or what about other distribution methods? It might be fun to have a good-old fashioned comic-book mail-in-offer like they use to have on X-Ray glasses, hehe. Plus in a comic-book promotion the cross-marketing takes care of itself.
These are all just loose thoughts though, I'm not necessarily promoting any of these ideas, just curious to see what people think about them.
We know that UDE has a selection of unused art laying around, but they have to decide whether they want to hold on to that art for future sets, or print it as AA's.
For example, the art for Ahab was done for UDE and could be seen on the artist's website well before the card was released.
As another example, I spotted on ebay an original art piece that had Luna riding Lockjaw. This art may have been commissioned for Luna, Lockjaw, or even It's Slobberin' Time, but one way or another it wasn't used. I saw another by the same artist of Frankie Raye @ Nova that wasn't used for MHG.
So... there's alternate art out there that they've already paid for, but they may want to hold onto it for future sets rather than printing AA's now.
Why would they use that version of Superboy Prime for a card that represents him from before the whole crazy kill everyone pounding on the walls of continuity stuff?
There are two alternate art 3-drop Wolverine? I thought there was only the one by Jonboy Meyers (not counting the AA EA).
Is the one by Jonboy Meyers the one from the Tin? If so, here's a fuzzy picture of the other one I found on eBay. If not ... there was also one in a tin.

If that's what he's representing then yeah, there's really no need. I was just speculating as to why the guy who mentioned Superboy Prime thought he might need an alternate art.
IS that what he's representing though? His mechanic seems kind of generic to me, and with the whole set representing the "Infinite Crisis" storyline, could you not make the arguement that it was either a version of crazy him, or (and more argueably) at least an all-encompassing version that could have a "Happy" version and a "Crazy Killer" version?
