Please inform me if this is wrong, but it appears that straight out of the gates we have not one, but TWO turn 4ish infinite loops out of DLS. No, I am not JK, but I hope UDE is:
Chemo's text:
Vengeance: Whenever Chemo becomes stunned, you may recover another target stunned character with cost 3 or less, then stun that character.
Infy loop numero uno:
Have a Chemo in play, along with Serifan with a cosmic counter and The Alley face-up. Team-up Villains United and Secret Six. Mockingbird a second copy of Chemo into play. Suicide a Chemo into one of your opponent's characters and stun nothing. Suicide the other Chemo into one of your opponent's characters, choose to recover/stun the first Chemo. Trigger the first Chemo's effect and stun/recover the second Chemo. Repeat 50+ times so The Alley deals 50+ damage to your opponent.
Infy loop numero two:
Have a Chemo in play, along with a Serifan with a cosmic counter and a Join us or Die and Daily Bugle face-down in your resource row. Team-up Villains United and Spider-Friends. Have Chemo attack a character that he can stun and won't be stunned back by (say, a 1-drop.) Flip Join us or Die on Chemo, flip Daily Bugle naming the 1-drop, stun/recover the 1-drop, flip Join us or Die back down. Repeat infinitely (50+ times) so that your opponent loses 50+ endurance.
I hope UDE fixes/has already fixed this. Otherwise, I'm shocked and appalled that they missed something this obvious in testing. Thoughts?
Yeah, I've been thinking about this all day actually... the card is amazingly broken for the meta and has potential combos for not just Golden Age, but also Silver Age as well (using the two copies of Chemo for instance) so yeah, something has to be done about it before it gets out of hand.
The flavor text makes it seem like they know about it, but who knows... The "OOP!" in the flavor text is pretty ironic if not lol. But yeah, I'm sure they'll fix it before the set becomes legal for tournament. I don't see how you can put the "Use once per turn" effect on a vengeance power so it'll probably end up as another banned card... since there aren't any actual erratas that I can think of that will actually fix the card completely. An errata to just your own characters will not fix the first combo you listed, an errata to opponents will not fix the second you listed... it's a lose/lose situation as far as errata so you NEED a ban unfortunately or it'll just run rampant...
This card reminds me so much of Dr. Light in it's early days....
But this really isn't good. I mean we have seen like 30 cards of this set and there is already two very obv. infy combo decks out. I hate to say it but UDE is really starting to slack. I understand maybe not catching the whole Tommy, Go Down Fighting, ect combo deck. But things like this, double Fiddler, Valeria/A Day are all simple interactions. It's great they are worried about liminted, but if constructed is busted there will be no one to play liminted. It takes some work, but it's needed. Bans suck...especially when a set first comes out.
I could see them putting a 'once per turn' errata on it. Since it's a 'when released' errata it would be considered a last second fix. Putting a 'once per turn' limit on a vengence effect isn't any more 'odd' than putting a 'once per turn' limit on an activated ability. Both cases are a 'once unless something else happens' effects. [In one case finding a way to 'recover' the vengence character and stun it again. The other involves readying the activatable character and activating it again.]
