Okay gang, we have almost 33% of a decade under our belt and I can't hardly wait.
That Vidi thread got me thinking... who would belong in the Vs. System Hall of Fame? If things stayed exactly as they are now, would there be a sure-thing set of five players that would be a lock for the Class of 2014? What would your criteria be, and would there be any place for a vote for Big Spooky or... God forbid... Stu?
Personally, I'd sound something like this. Based upon performance in $10Ks, $50Ks, and Pro Circuits.
Criteria:
1. Charisma. (Do you care at all about the player?)
2. Character. (Would you want him or her to date your daughter?)
3. Construction. (Can he or she build a deck?)
4. Collation. (Can he or she draft?)
5. Community. (Is the world a better place because he or she played Vs. System?)
My first ballot:
Michael Barnes
Jason Hager
Vidi Wijaya
Doug Tice
Ryan Jones
No, I wouldn't vote for myself. Fidrych has a display in the Hall, but he shouldn't be inducted. That's about what I would deserve if things stay the way they are.

Um, until Hellboy comes out and a certain someone dominates an unsuspecting metagame with his hordes of hellspawn weenie balls o' fire.
Stu, i agree 100% with your first 3 picks, those names jumped instantly to my head when i started reading your post.
Jones and Tice i would be somewhat on the fence about. Prosak and Batow would also be towards the top of my list. (insert obligatory Batow short joke here)

Your list looks good, but let me suggest one thing.
-1 doug Tice
+1 Adam Prozac
I think it'll make your build more consistant. Help out a lot in the brotherhood matchup.
I think a hall of fame is way too far off at this point to consider. On the other hand it might be neat to have a player voted "player of the year" contest run by UDE. Maybe for the prize they could give away free a trip for two to the upcoming "vaction spot" PC we've been told now will be a yearly thing.
Umm... don't PC Winners already get inducted into the "UDE Hall of Fame"?
I thought that I saw that somewhere - probably somewhere on their Pro Circuit stage displays...
Because, if that's the case, then that means that <gulp> David Leader is already in! And I KNOW that I wouldn't vote for that guy, because I definitely wouldn't want that guy to date my daughter... or my son... or my little brother. Ick!
I don't know a more interesting question prone to spawn greater debate might be, who will be the first person ejected from the UDE hall of fame, and for what offense?
Also is Michael Dalton's "Dominance" from Amsterdam-LA 05" not worth anything? This is a guy who topped Swiss by a win on 3 occasions iirc
Also are we not far too early to be talking about Hall of Fame?
Like 10 years too early?
It was 3 times. PC Amsterdam I had 2 more wins than anyone else, PC Indy I was 1 win ahead of 4 players. PC LA was my best swiss performance, I was 2 wins ahead of Tatar and 3 wins ahead of everyone else. Sadly there's that top 8 thing I had trouble w/ which means I likely don't belong on a top 5 list (I guess that is subjective though).
Seems a bit early to do a hall of fame, though technically every PC or $10k winner is in the UDE hall of fame already.
This was based on the Magic version, and if we ever get to where they are then we will need to pick from among the PC Champs. The people we induct will be the greatest the game has to offer, whether they have won it all or not. Ernie Banks? Slam dunk.
I know it is too early for this. I expressly stated that in the original post. Some people simply cannot talk unless their speech includes the word "wrong". Better stop ####ing around with me or you'll turn me back to the old me.
The Prosak exclusion was a difficult cut. I feel that Tice and Jones have conducted themselves just a bit better over the full three years. Adam still has too much Spears in him to be an automatic vote for me. (Obv controversial content.)
