I wasn't sure if we had a thread already devoted to ways to improve attendence at HL's or not, but I wanted to make a recommendation. Contact your local paper and offer to do a brief write-up of results from City Championships and other HL events, with a little extra for people who know nothing about the game. Most papers will take submissions as long as you're not looking to get paid out of the deal. I know my LGS got the paper to do an article about me having a high finish at a Magic PT back in 2001 and it drummed up some interest locally.

Players can usually find out more infomration on submitting this information online, or by calling the paper and informing them of the even in the first place, and that can get some media coverage going early on.

Free advertising for the store and more exposure for the game. A win win situation.

Not only that, but make alliance with other stores to help keep them alive, such as what Dayspring and myself are doing. He brags about my store as i do the same with his store.
