If i have a good rating say in April and i am planning to go to Indy in Aug. That means i am not going to play anymore until Indy. I dont want to mess up my rating for indy, therefore you are losing people at tournaments. If alot of people do this then you wont be able to have tournaments.
If i play in a city championship and not do so well. Say my rating was 2600 and i needed it to be 2650. But my rating goes down to 2550. I cant just play in hobby leagues to get it up in time for the PC. And say if i cant play in Hobby Leagues because it is on a monday. I cant ever get my rating up with only one big tournament.
With Pcqs happening ever month it is not hard but you took that away, so even less people will be able to play in PCs.
The people with 9 Pc points, thats not really far, they get so close but now they are useless.
I say bring Pcqs back but just lower the rating limit for PC. Right now i cant play VS, i have nowhere to play. I use to go to a place about 45 mins away for Pcq because it was worth it. But i can travel down the road on weekdays, i have school, my mother does not get home until 6:30, how am i going to play VS, oh yeah the once every 3 or 4 month city champs. I cant test decks, i cant play with people i know from the store anymore. Just Bring back Pcq or something like it. I dont even care if you lower the money amount. just bring them back.
I mean, I'd rather the criteria go up then down; but that's not realistic. Seriously, if you can't keep a rating above 2500 it's probably the sad truth that you shouldn't be playing in a Pro Circuit anyway. 2500 is the starting rating... it just implies you need to win a little more than you lose (or pull the occasional win from one of the players like you might see at the circuit).
They couldn't have made tha barrier to entry any lower without just saying "anyone can come". So quit whining about PC points already :).
So why not allow anyone to play in a PC, thats even better than bringing back the PC points.
Because making it to the PC should feel like a reward. It gives players something to work for. We want the level of competition at a PC to be above an extra-large PCQ.

That's what I thought, too. Dave, care to clarify where the 2500 mark came from?
I remember in the original OP announcement, they said you would need a 2650 rating to play in the PC if you played at a city championship. I can tell you this is definitively harder than getting 10 PC points. My rating hovers just under 2650 points most of the time. I've got 2632 right now, and if I didn't already have 10 PC points, and had attending a PC high on my priority list, I would defiantly stop playing tournaments as soon as I went over 2650.
Perhaps a compromise. Instead of requiring a 2650 rating on a certain date, require a player to hit 2650 sometime after the last PC by a certain date. That way, once a player hits the threshold, they won't be scared away from future tourneys.

Sure, when there is a full OP to go with it, but without the PCQ and frequent 10K's, the PC is the ONLY form of high level organized play focused on the Silver/Modern Ages.
I understood the points threshold when there was multiple tiers of pro circuit competition. I don't understand exlcuding players from one of the few events of the year. Most other games don't exlcude players from their World Championships.

I never said anything about keeping a rating above 2500. i said 2600. It might not be hard for you since you can play in anything you want really. I can go to all the pc in the world, the only one i can go to is indy because it is close. yeah 10 hours. I cant go to hobby tournaments, i am only 15 years old, i cant drive yet and my mother does not want to drive me a hour away to play in a tournament. i cant get VS online, I cant play VS at all. All i got is the PC coming up and a city champ. The i have to find a way to get ratings for the next pc i can go to.
If i had 50 pc points and a high ### rating i dont think i would have to worry at all.
OK I understand that people want PC points but up here the PROs go to them all and win. I know this one guy he went to 4 PCQ just so he could slim down the compitition from this area thats ########. If you don't like that there is no PC pionts then. Go away I'm trying to help this game grow and I'm sick of all the Bicthing god. Just get more people into the Game and they will bring them back. DO YOUR PART TO HELP THE GAME GROW. NOT PLAYING IN HOBBY WILL ONLY MAKE THING WORSE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SEE LOTS OF HOBBY TOURNAMENTS. NO YOU JUST SIT AND SULK THO. LITTLE BABYS GOD I'M SOOOOOOO PI$$ED RIGHT NOW.
P.S. hELP THE GAME GROW AND STOP YOUR BICTHING PLEASE THANX.

Ok I understand that people want to speak english so everybody in the world tries to learn english. I met this one guy that tried but every time he posted on realms, his posts made absolutely no sense. As an english speaker, I'm trying to help the rest of the community understand each other, but sometimes you just can't help some people. I'm so sick of reading #####ing ramblings by people that can't even post coherent english. Not using correct grammar will only make things worse. Little english failures; god I'm so annoyed right now.
P.S. Help the english language and stop using webonics please, thanks.

UDE is killing Vs and it makes me sad. Guess I'm playing Wow now. :(
I mean...erm...
(and as much as I'd like to see pro circuits remain with some sort of standard, not like the pro circuit had much of a standard since players like myself could qualify, it's probably better that the rating threshold go down to 2600 or something just so it will encourage more people to enter at Indy. The game really needs a good turnout at that event to give readers the thought that the game will be in good shape).
Aceswolf, you seem to be maddened by the fact that some players actually want to be good and win PCQs. I know fun is key here, and "fun" as a concept differs from person to person, but come on; Vs. is something you have to constantly pump money into (as I'm sure you're well aware). Doing well in tournaments isn't the only way to have fun playing Vs., but it is definitely the primary way, at least as far as (probably more than) half the player base is concerned. If I want to have fun being bad at a game, there are plenty out there that I can play for free.
You can't expect someone in George Nace's situation not to be a little irritated. He's not "bicthing" -- he's telling it like it is.
