This match-up is between Curtis “T’Challa” Black, oops, I mean Brown and Jason To. I’m sure all of you know Curtis here on Realms. Jason is a pretty good player.
But yeah...
Curtis rolls a two while Jason rolls a one.
“Ill go… second.”
Curtis has a very awesome Black Panther adorned with the CABAL logo.
Curtis scours away to get his notebook
“So… what are you playing I ask.” While Curtis is away
“Checkmate/Inhumans…”
“Mixing it up huh?”
“Won too many times.” he says quietly.
Curtis is back and they cut decks and get ready to play.

Alaris swings into She-Hulk and Jason adds a flurry to the chain flipping Knightmare Scenario, Blue area of the Moon and Great Refuge to get him a power-up.
Curtis replaced with She Hulk and plays Against all odds.
Jason activate Ahmed to get Brother Eye for + 5 ATK.
So end of the day… Dewoz is a 14/14 against a 7/10 She Hulk.
Curtis goes into the tank for a few seconds and passes on attacking with his remaining guys..
Alaris goes frat boy on Hawkeye.
J: 22 C: 38
Turn 6
Curtis under drops with Carol and Natasha.
Jason Ahmed’s away his Dr. Fate’s Tower for… another Dr. Fate’s Tower. Pitching Annihilation Procol for Cloak of Nabu.
He Cloaks up Ahmed and places the remaining fate Gear on Huntress and discard Alaris, Sasha, and Target Acquired(!?) to Fate’s Trigger..
Curtis teams Natasha and Carol into Alaris. In response to Nat’s trigger he Zinco’s the Cloak allowing him to goat#### Ahmed.
J: 15 C: 36

Jason plays double Knightmare Scenario and a power-up to get a brickwall but Curtis has a Call Down the Lightning. to make it moot.
Dewoz goes into Natasha. Jason forgets to activate Brother Eye which might be big.
J: 9 C: 29
Jason Ahmed’s out a Slaughter Swamp and gets back Sasha.
Curtis recruits Hercules.
Sasha rolls into Hercuels with a Blue Area of the Moon for plus six and gets the one sided stun.
So we have 17 people here so that means we;re going to cut to top 8.
Anyhow Round Two:
Kevin Huynh vs Brian Eugenio
Eugenio is probably the most pro-centric player in the Bay Area having made top 8 at – if I recall correctly - two 10ks and top 16 a few PCs.
Kevin “kamikaze” Huynh has the sexiest moon knight mat ever with Charlie Huston artwork.
These guys are cutting into my lunch time so I hope they’re playing rush.
They flip.
Brian calls tails in the air and takes evens.
Brian has a firsr turn Ted Kord pitching a Cloak fetching Amulet.
Kevin has nothing.
On turn two he fate’s tower pitching Sable, WDM getting Helm
“Quicksilver hitting for… twenty… thousand?”
He discards Divinity, and a Fate’s Tower to the amulet then Soul World backs poison ivy.
Black Cat

Kevin activates ESU and Enemies pitching Night Thrasher to get Meat Market.
“Beat that Meat!”
Brian Soul Worlds down to 42 to et back Sable, then replays a Helm pitching Ape X, Deathstroke, Ultimate Assasin and Divinity then recruits Dr. Doom fetchin’ Crisis.
Uh oh.
A Fate-d up Ivy still being larger then his simple Meatmarket Kevin tanks a bit. He evades and discards an Empire Statue University.
Doom swings into Meatmarket with a power-up on both sizes.
Kev Dwarfs out Ritual Sacrifice.

\
Divinity then swings into Blackheart off the back of a Satellite HQ.
(Good thing no king?)
Turn Five:
Kevin has Morbius, while Brian mirrors Kevin’s last turn with a Blackheart.
Somewhere next door a Monster Island fizzles High Society.
At the exact same moment, some comic geek just got laid. By a female.
Morbius swings into Ivy with a reinforce from Ape X and KOing after reinforce.
Kevin then team attacks Back Cat and Meat Market into Divinity with a Big Leagues on Black Cat. Brian however just Blackhearts the other one. Kevin then adds another Big Leagues and Spider-Signal to stun Divinity.
Brian Ted Kord’s out Light Armor.
Kevin: 18 Brian: 21
Kevin recruits Dr. Octopus, Master of Evil, while Kevin has Maddy in the concealed.
Brian fate’s up Dr. Octopus and uses his Satellite HQ.
(Yes, Doc Ock is the best Loyalty six drop in Silver – unless you like Persuader.)
Both players are kinda tense here thinking about their stuff. Dr. Octopus swings into Maddy and then he tanks a bit. Brian checks both players KO’d piles and he tanks some more.
“Cross my fingers.” Brian muses.
He Soul World’s back Silver Sagle and then…
“Nah, it’s not worth the risk. Pass.”
Kevin then Level 12s the Doctor Octopu’s Amulet with Maddy and then the Lv 12s the Cloak.
Six each.
12 11
Divinity swings into Morbius with a Light Armor.
Blackheart and Blue Beetle swings and two Light Armors later…
While the Black Panther is one of the world's foremost superheroes, he is also one of the richest men. As such he frequently walks in the circles of the rich and the elite.
On one such day, Black Panther found the arrogant Sebastian Shaw talking mad smack about the Avengers. Both men being strong men of honor, this could have only one repercussion:
The First Day
As this was a battle between gentleman, neither side did anything for the first day.
The Second Day
The simple and stalwart Rick Jones no longer able to watch the Avenger's name defaced, rushed forward in an attempt to clear the name of the team.
49-50
The Third Day
Finally, Captain America could take it no longer and called forth: "Avengers Assemble!" T'Challa inspired by his fellow Avenger and three other reservists.
Sebastian seeing trouble, began calling someone on his cellphone. Whether or not this was a business call or a booty call was uncertain, but all that was known that Sage soon Joined the Club and handily began doing some sort of job.
T'Challa and Rick Jones team attacked, while Sage attacked with the help of the Hellfire Club.
40-46
The Fourth Day
"What this party bloody needs is some alcohol!" Sebastian quipped as he recruited his friend Blackheart who was dressed in some kind of homo-erotic costume ready for a bacchanal.
T'Challa thinking fast called upon the support of Doctor Druid - the squarest member of the Avengers - in order to assist him.
Blackheart ever the drunk brawler was eager to swing into Doctor Druid, but Sebastian Shaw made sure that he was armed with the best technologies of Shaw Industries and Doctor Druid was consequently pummeled.
"What a boring bastard!" Shaw arrogantly taunted, and he ordered Sage to finish the stunned Druid.
"This Mutant Massacre..." T'Challa roared in disgust. "How could you do it Shaw?" But all T'Challa got back was the silent screams of his fallen comrade and struck back along with Rick Jones.
The Fifth Day
As T'Challa surveyed the start of what looked like would be another skirmish, he began analyzing what possible steps he could take. Ultimately, he decided to call upon the assistance of Monica Rambeau who had been training with T'Challa and refining her powers as of late.
Sebastian Shaw hearing news of T'Challa's newest recruit began to worry. He then ordered Blackheart and Sage to make an offering of Power and Wealth in order to convince his maligned son Shinobi Shaw to Join the Club.
Staring at the villains before them T'Challa told Rick and Monica that they shouldn' be afraid and that this was a Legendary Battle. Hand in hand, the two attacked Shinobi Shaw.
Shinobi, ever the womanizer:
"Hey baby, there's always room for one more at this pool party."
"Sorry, but I don't date five drops."
Shinobi rose up in protest but was stunned by his failure.
"Great work!" T'Challa cried as he struck once more.
14-36
The Sixth Day
Sebastian Shaw called forth the services of white Bishop Donald Pierce, only to be met by a resounding "Screw you."
As a result, he was unable to muster any more support.
The Avengers though, weakened by their recent trysts were unable to spare any more reservists and were only able to send Quicksilver.
Blackheart, no longer inebriated like the previous nights, called upon his demonic magics to destroy T'Challa in a bit to put an end to this conflict. However, he did not consider the presence of the disruptive Chaos Magicks and soon found himself having slain the newly arrived speedster.
Shinobi Shaw, angry at being turned down by a woman, attacked Monica, however, Rick Jones escaped from his post in a bit to help Monica.
14-31
The Seventh Day
"I'm back." Rick Jonescried out. Best of all, Rick was not alone: Rick brought along with him his friend Hercules.
Shaw, annoyed at the constant ineptitude of his henchmen - and woman - decided to finally intervene and came down next to Sage and Blackheart.
Monica and Black Panther decided to attack Sebastian Shaw together. They succeeded in defeating the density controlling mutant but at the expense of Monica.
Mighty Hercules was soon ready to attack but he soon found himself staring down Sebastian Shaw himself, as he had been the victim of a deadly game.
Hercules unable to defeat Shaw, soon found that Shaw had taken the initiative and struck him. Shaw, ever the lovers of Deadly Games soon sacrificed the companiment of Blackheart and Sage and was able to defeat T'Challa once and for all.
Aftermath
Sebastian Shaw had defeated T'Challa.
"So... Shaw... you've won. I ask only that you make it a quick clean death and spare my family and Wakanda."
"T'Challa." Shaw said "You are a worthy opponent. I will let you live so that you may train harder and challenge me once more."
"Shaw... you're a bastard... " T'Challa muttered before he fainted from the battle.
This match is between Glen Viernes and Pete. Basically, Glen is I think Fillipno and is playing Kree/VU while Pete is I think... Mexican, and is playing Hellfire.
Both of them are undefeated at this point.
Glen wins the roll and take even and mulls. Pete mulls too.
Turn 1
Glen pitches Calculator and fetches Coercion.
50-50
Turn 2
Glen plays Calculator and swings for first blood, and crosses Kree with Villains United off the back of Coercion.
Turn 3:
Pete has Sage visible, while Glen has Zazzala.
Sage swings into Calculator and Glen elects not to use Vengeance. With no one visible, Zazalla swings, and Glen flips up a Science Spire returning Calculator and subsequently pitches him.
47- 43
Turn 4:
Glen has a fairly un-presstastic recruit in the form of the four drop Alexander Luthor.
Glen's comparative play of Mastermind though, makes Alexander Luthor the man.
Glen plays No Man on Sage, but Pete respond by flipping the Hellfire Club and moving Sage back. Glen then No Man's again and Pete has no responses.
Alexander Luthor swings into Sage, while Zazalla punks Mastermind. After attacks, Glen Spires Alexander Luthor.
38-28
Turn 5
Pete finally has an on curve play in the form of Shinobi Shaw and moves Shinobi Shaw.
Glen's turn is a bit more complicated.
First, he recruits Dr. Minerva, fetching Dylon Cir.
Then, he recruits Lieutenant Kona Lor, the Dylon Cir, then Galen Cor.
(If you know what each of these guys do, you need to drop the cards and enter rehab.)
Pete flips Sewer System and Swings Shinobi into the Queen Bee.
Glen, teams everyone except Galen Kor with a High Society into Pete. Pete tanks and then play Shrink and Shaw industries.
Glen though, has a Hala, and soon Shinobi is inducted to a higher society.
Galen Kor swings in
38-12
Turn Six.
Pete again has no six and has Blackheart.
Glen though, manages to press out - not in this order Minerva, Lieutenant Kona Lor, Yon Rogg, Ultimus, and finally the evil oracle.
So I didn't do any recording for the last round but here was the top 8 breakdown.
Top 8
Avengers - Curtis Brown
Kree/VU - Glen Viernes
Crisis Divinity Abuse - Brian Eugenio
Hellboy Checkmate - Devin
Deathwatch - Miguel Rodriguez
Checkmate/Inhumans - Jason To
2 Hellfire - John and Pete
The top 8 played out like this:
Checkmate/BPRD vs Hellfire: This key moment in this turn occurs when a pumped Johann Kraus swings into a Shinobi Shaw. In response to Johann's recover trigger, Pete Massacres Johann and the BPRD player falls apart as he was relying on Johann sucking up some damage. Instead, Hellboy gets stomped.
Crisis/Divinity vs Hellfire: This match was a steamroll with a fated-up Poison Ivy on turn two who moved all her gear on to Divinity powered by Crisis.
Kree/VU vs Checkmate/Inhumans: This match-up was the closest one. The Kree player 3...2...1 kept the Checkmate player on turn four for three times. The Checkmate player though, had a full fate set. Ultimately, the Kree player wasn't really able to press to it's fullest extent and lost.
Deathwatch vs Avengers: I don't really know what happened this game even though I was right above it. But it looked like both player had large boards and Deathwatch lost.
Top four:
Checkmate/Inhumans vs Avengers: This match-up involves a fully fated up Quicksilver, Inhuman by Marriage on turn two. The Checkmate player is able to aggressively beat down the Avenger's early plays and finished it off with the six drop Quicksilver.
Hellfire vs Divinity: A fated up Divinity on four eats every single visible character.
Finals:
Checkmate/Inhumans vs Divinity: Both player had fully fated up characters on turn three and they just ended up in strange cute dance where they avoided attack the other player's fated up guy in a bid to deal damage. At some point, the Divinity player went all out to ko Ahmed only to meet with Threat Neutralized which was huge.
The game ends very closely on seven: The Checkmate player cleared out the Divinity player's entire board except Divinity. Divinity swung and then Fate Has Spoken to ready to swing directly. 13 points of direct damage and a discarded Light Armor... but he was still one point away from the win: -12 to -13.
An awesome write up! I wish I remembered more of the individual moments from yesterday, but I had gone to bed at 4:00 AM and then got up at 9:00 AM, and just can't remember too much :)
You'd think I was drinking, unless you knew me well enough to know I don't touch the stuff.
The Pete match up was the rough one for me, since he won by getting me to exactly 0, and did so by having 3 of that games card that moves the little hiding babies back and forth, allowing shaw to swing, then hide, then ready, then move out and swing again. A terrible way to lose a game. lol
I bet after this, I play more cards that deal with hidden characters ;)
