With the debris of the City Championships setteling, it's now time to turn our attention to the Random Punks Tournament.
What is everyone expecting?
Is it going to be an event that everyone will want to flock to?
Is anyone excited about this tournament?
I personally think it can be a lot of fun! I have already even thought of the endless possiblities pf all the jank that can be played. Plus whose Vs. Collection is complete without a Howard the Duck mat!
I haven't heard about the 8 uncommons rule, but I know that, in a rareless tourny, it can be a lot of fun, until you run into people who are running things like Skrulls, which seems to steam-roll 80% of the field in this format.
Thankfully, I have a Heralds/Legionnaires lifegain deck that gains it just as fast as they can take it away, so I'm not particularly terrified of them. I'd really rather play something jank, though. Preferably something with the Crime Lords in it.
If there is the 8 uncommon thing it will severly change the playable decks, and I think it will kill off skrulls (I'm not counting the number of uncommons in it, but I think it's many more than 8).
I am curious as to whether we have anything concrete at all yet.
If the field is actually open to speculation, and it is not guaranteed to be the lazy peon equivalent, then there is a chance it could actually be the highlander format for VS.
It is more than likely the Lazy Peon though, and if that is the case, we can assume it will follow the standard lazy peon rules.
It is where you must make a deck out of only commons and uncommons. We (the realms community in other threads) seem to think it a very solid idea of what will be happening (some people post their beliefs as fact so one can never tell), with the new rumor that any deck can have at maximum 8 uncommons (unconfirmed and most likely untrue).
From what I understand Lazy Peon/Pauper (no rares, no more than 8 uncommons) is different than Random Punks (no rares) - However I have not seen anything official on this yet.
