Hello all. I've been thinking of making a Spidey clone deck and have decided to look at each and every Spidey, even the MOR FF one. His text (paraphrased) read when "Spider-man" comes into play he gets three web counters. I'm sure this has been addressed before with Doom or Darkseid decks but is that text exclusive to that version or would it lend itself to all other versions which enter? Thanks for any help.
When a card refers to its own name, you can read that as meaning "this card." To refer to multiple versions, a card's text has to say something like "cards named Spider-Man" or "characters named Spider-Man."
the only other 2 examples of where spider-man references himself is his 5-drop and his 8-drop. If you wanted a global effect to go off, the card would have to read "characters named X" (like going my way?)
side note, if you're going to make the clones city deck with lost city, it might be better to team up with the marvel knights and use midnight sons so you can use the 6-drop without using we had a team-up and so you can use wild ride. the finisher of strange on 8 with spectacular when you have evens is gonna be a winner every time.
