what is this spiderman vs event happening around mid june.. two hobby stores aroound my way (kings games/ neutral ground in ny) have it schedual... but what is it all about,,, whats the format.. any info would be great
Why dont you the easier thing and just ask the owners of the store ? LOL..i've never heard of anything like this.. maybe they just came up with it..who knows LOL
Haven't got our Hobby League Kit yet but it is the next Marquee Event. It may have some special rule where you have to have at least 4 Spider-Mans in your deck or you have to run Spider-Friends... should be interesting.

i'm hoping for a "clone-type" deck theme, like with the Scarlett Spider 6drop. just think, Dr. Doom on 3, 4, Kristoff on 5, Doom 6, 7, 8... and not needing Crisis to pull it off. hot.
And before anyone complains about us asking for more information, remember that the more information in our hands the more excitement we can build up for the event, and that is ALWAYS in the game's best interests, right?
The most recent The Ring Has Chosen podcast refers to having a special Spider-Man event in honour of a store owner's birthday... I believe Neutral Grounds was one of the stores mentioned.
my guess - they start off in play - they set your endurance total, don't have a recruit cost, etc...
That's how the MTG Vanguard cards worked. The number in the top left corner is your started END total. The printed effect on the card acts as a game modifier for your deck.
Adds an interesting "twist" to Spider-Friends Stall... I'm thinking it will be the "deck to beat" with either of the Spidey(s) tossed in.
WOW! I'm really impressed with the way UDE is expanding their borders and appealing quite well to their casual base. I am excited to see what comes of this Alter-Ego format. I like how it's MTU-only constructed deck, but at the same time it makes some things quite abusive. For instance, take Spider-Man (Spectacular AlterEgo) with Iceman and Blade. Unless your opponent hits a 1-drop, their entire board until turn 5 is locked down at the low price of 2 cards (which can be replaced by ESU). Admittedly Spider-Man (Parasitic Host AlterEgo) beats that strategy, but it's still pretty brutal.
A lot of people think this is the new format for Marvel/DC Legends. Using the single Hero/Alter Ego/Avatar format of the WOW card game, but keeping the mechanics of VS intact.
This will mean sets will have less focus on teams and more focus on individual characters. (This will make the new cards more collectible as every new set could tie into each other more smoothly. As opposed to having legacy cards forced in or waiting a year for your favorite team to come back.) This could also accout for the number of rare cards in these new sets. Not reprints, but new "Alter Ego" cards which will come one a pack. (Though in WOW the Hero cards are uncommon.) Expect to see UDECKS starters with giant sized "Alter Ego" cards similar to what WOW is offering now. You might see a push to carry them in Target or WalMart as if this is a new superhero card game. And in a way, it is.
This could be UDE's way of making Vs. for the masses. Adding to the game without throwing the system out. So why haven't we heard more about this? The new format probably won't officially start until Marvel Legends, but they still have to get people to buy World's Finest in July.
I love it..... the format from what I read was only MTU ONLY. This is going to be sooooo much fun. I can't wait till they do some stuff for DC. This tournament should be tons of fun. Thank you UDE
