I thought we had a team up...is it better than you think?
So my current pet project is a Random Punks deck featuring..you guessed it, the actual random punks cards. I am planning to team them up with a few other teams like sentinels and maybe splash in some doom for the prime sentinels Dr. Doom 4 drop stunt. I thought we had a team up, though will allow me to give my normally unaffiliated random punks all team affiliations i have in play. How will the deck work? What exactly will it do? Well, it is an evil concoction intended to burn my opponent to death and never attack once in the entire game.
It will lose horribly.
But it got me thinking: What other characters suddenly get pretty sweet with something like this on their side?
Arcade now has the ability to team up with Underworld and use In Limbo so he can't be k.o.'ed. Pretty slick as I see it, since with some pumps he'll be able to stun anything, right? I'm heavily leaning towards either Counter giving abilities or things like nasty surprise and what are friends for, so I can stun back on the defense. I'm really wanting to give him a Trident, and let the good times roll. I also looked at Spiral for little while. Then, then I realized that there are just simply too many neat stunts to be able to pull off to hold back. Ferak normally seems to suck, but when teamed up with sentinels, suddenly, k.o.'ing them doesn't seem to matter. 1 reconstruction program later and you are back in business again.
Multiple Man felt redundant with it. Mojo was totally nerfed by it. So, what do you want to try out with this sneaky little team up?
I pulled the WHATU combo in draft the other day. Super Skrull got to team up with Spider friends and Syndicate. I had 5 drop Kravinoff out. So right there alone, I have a 16/14 6 drop on my initiative. You can pretty much guess what happened there.
Also, skrunklehead wolverine is a great idea. Unfortunately, the other team ups are better in the deck.
As a backup to WHATU for the Skrunucklehead, Ethan Edwards play, just give Edwards an Image Inducer. I had a skrull/x-men deck that tried to do that on 4 and edwards was consistently huge.
I thought we had a team up has found another sweet spot in my thinking:
Spiral. The old Marvel Origins Spiral. The one that says if she dies you can just go grab another, and use her in a Brotherhood style deck with lost city. Sure, there are bound to be other ways to do this, but it lets me play with Spiral! And Spiral is one of my favorite characters of all time. I loved the amazing revelation that Spiral and her hatred/ love of Longshot was because she was from the future, and Longshot hadn't been there to save her when Mojo kidnapped her and turned her in to this 6 armed creature. A touching moment when she comes face to face with Ricochet and lets out all of her rage at ever having been too weak to protect herself from something like this happening. It was something akin to what a rape victim might express at times. Very powerful stuff.
This would allow me to play her in a deck where the ability to keep playing just one character over and over would still be good some how.
I mentioned her earlier, but hadn't fleshed it out. Now, I can see the deck starting to formulate around her.
I LOVE we had a team up, its probably my favorite card out of TU, I am still partial to midnight sons, but to me its right there with Coercion. And it doesn't have to be just unaffiliated cards. Hooray for exciting Team-ups
