Summertime, and the livin's easy... except for gas prices.
Hey y'all,
How's it hangin' for you in this glorious Summer of Love 2007?
I will not be able to attend the Elite Series in Madeira Beach, unfortunately, due to gas prices and my heavenly summer job.
I am teaching Elementary School for the first time in 20 years and the little blighters are draining every ounce of energy in my brain. I love it, today I am gonna show second graders how to do computer graphics.
I am really digging Ruin. Even more than Ahmed, we have the potential to uncover some dormant tricks that really need to be played more often.
World's Finest preview weeks in 56 hours and counting? Yes please.
Amazingly enough, with my little punk heart, the soundtrack to my summer is Zucchero and Co. Crazy stuff, check it out.
So how about you? How is your summer going and how much of your good times involve Vs. System?
I'm enjoying the start of my summer, despite taking some business classes online. Working third shift allows me the chance to get out and golf in the nice weather.
As for VS, I've been occupied with helping the store owner get the details squared away for the Elite Series Sunday morning at my local game store. (The Fortress in East Lansing, MI. PM me if you need details.)
I actually wondered to myself at work last night whether or not we had enough pens for deck registration...
Hope you all enjoys your Elite Series as much as I plan to.
We're piling six of us in a van for Elite Series in Houston...where it will be so humid, that I will laminate my cards and insist on playing my matches in a wading pool.
Stu, i just realized that the pic of superman and the woman bathing is ultra pervy.
You are to think that he is off frame looking at her, and we are catching big Supe's reflection in a medicine cabinet mirror.... oh but this isnt the case.
Turns out Supe's leering at her from an open window, with the pervometer at 98%. Check out the Kyptonian lettering on the suit. (its not a reflected 'S').
It's been going great for me! I've had a month of sleeping in, and getting to watch the late shows. Also, the ES is coming up soon. Plus, I'm going to California a week from Sunday. Not to shabby so far.
So far I've lost ten pounds, gained two of it back, and been focusing intently on school.
I'm really excited and nervous about the Elite Series. On the one hand, I feel myself eager to test my skills against the best in the Bay Area.
On the other hand, I'm nervous because I'm not that great at Sealed Deck. I'm not a very good technical player and I really... really... don't want to be screwed by a poopy pool.
Plus... I really want to do good so I can write a intelligent report.
I'm also nervous cause it's my turn to miss drops against Brian : (
Many days of this summer have been spent waiting everyday for the mail, hoping we get our conformation notice from UDE about starting the Hobby League. I'm tired of waiting to hear back from them!
Otherwise, it's building for and playing in our weekly tournements and playing the DS version when I'm not at my store.
So far my summer hasn't technically started, but the past little while has been a blast. ;)
I've been working in the Philippines for the past month or so, and have been frequenting ( or at least, trying to frequent) the VS scene here, which appears to be picking up nicely. I'm told they once gathered PCQ crowds of 90+ here, but the number dwindled down to a handful. Lately the numbers have been climbing back up, and the efforts UDE seems to be making aren't going unnoticed. Basically, I came at the right time.
Despite getting thoroughly and repeatedly trounced by the locals, it's more fun than I even anticipated. Comics are also pretty popular here, which has meant that I finally broke down and read civil war (besides The Punisher's perspective, which I read the minute it hit stands) as well as the Illuminati. Marvel's making me proud.
Surprisingly, there seems to both a casual and a competetive crowd here, and they mingle very well with one another. Dependinhg on the league you go to, you could be facing kree/vu or flashback. That's diversity. :)
Anyway, in answer to your question, my summer's going greatly.
Congrats on the new/additional job Stu. I imagine you'll see more tangible results than you expect, and reap the rewards for years to come.
Havng a wonderful summer! Got married recently, to the girl (woman) of my dreams, and looking forward to getting back into Vs. Batman was draw enough, but thus far, it looks like the power level and fun factor are going to be awesome as well, so I'm pretty excited. Not as much fun as teaching 2nd graders new tricks (I have one of those awful year-round jobs), but life is pretty sweet in central Arkansas these days!
I'm training for a starter triathlon in July, potentially with an official Olympic-length triathlon in August if the first goes well.
I have no idea how people run for fun. Swimming and cycling, I get, that's fun. But running? God. Not fun. I even went and bought proper shoes with insoles and everything and it's still not fun.
But they don't do cycle/swim biathlons, so I gotta run if I wanna do it.
I'm starting a new job...the first (real) one I've had since I graduated a year ago. I've had enough "vacation" to last me for a long time and now I'll actually be making some money which I'm always cool with.
I'll probably be saving up most of my vacation time for Christmas time so I can go back to Newfoundland :D
As for how much my summer will involve VS? I'm not really sure...it all depends how that kind of stuff is going down in Houston. Probably better than where I'm at now though.
