Hi, I'm new to the game and own 2 boxes of msm, 1 of dor and 1 of djl.
I'm going to buy some other box, but don't know which sets are the best. Can you give me some advice?
I know team-up and legion should be good, but what about the others?
Hmm, you're going to be best off working for Modern and moving forward; that will catch you up. Legion was actually a pretty weak set; unless you're a big fan of the teams in there and want to play them for fun I would recommend avoiding them. Focus on the latest 2 sets (MTU was very good; jury is still out on World's Finest, but it'll at least be available for play in Silver and Modern for the longest).
Heralds was also a great set (probably the best of the modern format), though it will rotate out of Modern once a new set comes out... of course, it'll still be around for Silver for a while.
While I agree that Crisis IS the best set ever for fun and 3rd best for power, I would imagine newer players should focus on new sets. Without breaking the bank he can buy up enough MTU to make good, competitive decks (MTU had teams that had good search on their own, so he can "make due" without Mobilize/Enemy for a while). And since Modern restricts out most of the older sets, he'll at least have good footing (plus, the next hobby leagues is Modern I believe, so he'll be able to build something competitive).
I say buy MTU. Pretty strong teams with a variety of strategies as well as recognizeable characters or buy DWF so you can get whatever you need as it will trade very well for atleast a couple of week.s

My advice would be to stick with one brand (ie Marvel OR DC, not both) [edit: unless you have loads of cash, I'm just recommending the cheaper route]. There are a lot of strong decks with cards that are almost entirely from one set. If there is legacy content that makes a team stronger, it will be in the next set of the same brand. If you need something from the other brand, you can probably trade or buy singles for cheap. Unless you bought DC and want Enemies, or Marvel and want Mobilize ;-).
Edit: since you've bought a box each of JLA and DOR, I'd recommend sticking with DC; the MSM you bought won't have a lot of strong cards. World's Finest features the Revenge Squad team (Lex and his boys), which was introduced in JLA - that might be good to get next. Also, JLA seems to have been massively undersold and it sells for dirt cheap online; you could go back and buy more if you wanted.
If you're a spiderman fan though, go for MTU and continue in the Marvel route.
My best advice to a new casual player is to go to ebay and find some boxes for fairly cheap. Use those to build your strengths in the game before over commiting and deciding you don't enjoy it.
This will give you a few decent options: you can build older set decks, and you can keep your investments low. Once you've been around for a while, and have talked shop with us and decide you want to play more up to the minute stuff, find your local retailer and buy from them whenever possible. They'll appreciate it and you'll enjoy having a place to meet more players.

Hi, thank you for the advice. The quoted words are for me kind of sad. I live in Italy, and, for now, UDE has stopped supporting the game in my country, so it's possible that I will never be able to find a retailer selling me the cards.
:(

Have a great day!
I'm gonna back tchalla on this. You can get boxes of the old sets very cheaply on e-bay. And there have been a lot of good sets to choose from.
You can also get any individual cards you need either on ebay or at Cool Stuff Inc, Strikezone Online or another website. Personally, the collector in me loves hunting down old cards. And they are ridiculously cheap these days.
If you are strapped for cash, I'd stay with buying boxes for only one company (Marvel or DC). That way, your legacy cards will be of value to you. I used to hate it when I would get legacy cards for a team I didn't play. (That's no longer a problem thanks to online shopping).
Since you've got DC boxes so far, I'd stick with DC. WF should be a good set for you as it will compliment MSM and DOR. DCR is a great set, but there's not a ton of cards for the teams you already have. DLS is a bit of a weak set. You may be able to get some cheap boxes for the good Darkseid cards. But I'm betting you could buy those individually for cheap too.
