I don't like how they substitute team names for symbols on card effects either.

It will only bug me until I get the damn things memorized.

Can you imagine if they mix those like the Mental/Energy thing for Unuscione?

I like the symbols. They save a lot of space, which opens up potential for stuff like triple affiliation. They also make it a lot more intuitive for new players.

The whole sun and moon thing seems kinda, I dunno weird to me. I think the black background conveyed the idea a lot better but I could see why they'd add the symbols.

I think the opposite, symbols were exactly what was needed. As soon as we are familiar with team names and symbols, you can print multi-affiliation with only symbols. A copy of Wolverine could have "X" "A" "MK" and a spidey head to represent his multi-team usage. Much easier than having every team name printed on the card!
