Has a deck ever just completely crapped out on you?
I was playing in the Legends event over the weekend and I decided to play the Superman/Batman deck (dual legends FTW!) and both of the games I played (it was a real small tournament) I didn't hit a single team-up until turn 7....it was ####ing ridiculous....it completely hosed me when my opponents actually had even a half decent game....brutal.
So has there been a time where your deck didn't do a thing you wanted it to?
Whenever I get to finishing my 10k Report (WOW, It's been freakin' forever) you'll see it in complete match style. But, against John Hammond in the Semifinals every 10 seconds I put down my hand, and slow-clapped to myself and gave a chuckle. Then I said "this match-up is like 95/5 you at this point."
i was running a brotherhood deck this weekend. Plenty of Atk pumps.
33 characters, and 27 plots.
1st game - 2 drop Nocturn. That was it for characters.
2nd game - 2 drop quicksilver, 4 drop feral rage (no character to discard for it), and 6 holocaust.
3rd game - He had all concealed running 3 drop captain america (skrull) + franklin. So all character hidden. Couldn't hit him fast enough. (but it ran pretty well with characters.)
4th game. Went well, but atk pumps were evaded. (morlocks)
I built a modern age deck once. When I took it to a Pro Circuit though, it spontaneously bursted into flames(must have been the deck protectors). I brought my deck back home in a zip-lock bag. It was depressing.
I played a Darkseid deck for the Legends event and it went from being an unstoppable force to being a pretty wet thud.
I was actually getting up a pretty good tempo against a Juggernaut deck and then turn 5 rolls around and I have absolutely nothing. No Mobilize, no Created from Hate, no characters in hand above a 2-drop. I hadn't seen anything above a 4-drop the entire game or any search cards.
Missing your 5 against Juggs is pretty much game over no matter how far you were ahead.
Despite only winning 1 game at the pc my deck was a fairly good meta call. It was a heralds/inhumans/spider friends deck with ravager on 3,who is really good against subsitute, the venom thing, and quicksilver. It had waking the ancestors for anything involving samantha parrington, and was a win condition against venom, keeping them from winning on 6. But out of 6 games I hit a 4 drop twice, spent 5 points on 5 only 3 times, and even lost a game cause of a stone whiff on 6. The deck had 3 kindred spitits 4 lockjaw 4 aunt may and 4 creation of a herald :(

One tournement I was playing defenders. My first game I never drew a drop above 4 so it was problematic. Also the next game my lowest drop I drew all game was a 5 drop. It happens and you have to get over it.
My wife played the X-Men/Gotham Knights deck Hippie Rob built for me Last Saturday. She watched how it was played, and she watched Rob rip Quickfate to Shreds with it. Then the tourney started and she got nothing but Plot Twists... every round. She went 0-4 because she kept drawing blue hands.
I Was Playing in a Golden Age Tournament, And i was playing TDC Stall (After 10k Minneapolis, Before Heralds was released).
I Was Playing Against X-mental, and somehow i managed to miss 1-4. I was at 1 endurance at the end of turn 7, hoping to topdeck a search for jean Grey (i had 1 in ko'd pile), I Draw for turn 8, Don't get anything, and scoop. I Look at the next card in the deck, and its jean grey...
How Do you miss 1-4, after mulliganing, With 4 Straight to the grave and 4
enemy of my enemy? :(
Ah...I was playing an Avengers/Legionnaire's team-attack deck. 6 team-ups and 3 Beast (1-drop Avengers, searches team-ups). I didn't hit a team-up the entire game...and against Doomed Earth, being unable to reinforce a board full of little guys is the kiss of death.
Hmmm...plenty of my decks have crapped out on me, actually, at one point or another. It's just something that happens. There was one game I drew a reverse curve. Mulliganned a hand with my 8 drop to pull my 7, two sixes, a DEF pump, and a couple team-ups. I top-decked two copies of my 4 on turn 2, and on turn three a drew another team-up and Mobilize...but I didn't have any characters out.
I just bought 2 boxes of Man of Steel and hit 4 of every non rare search card and 2 of the rare ones. I couldn;t hit any character or search card till turn 4 by then I was staring at one scary field full of some seriously mean pumped guys from the Revenge Squad thanks to 4 Ongoing Twists and a President Luthor. So my first card was Lois so I automatically drop my 6 Drop Steel to her cost and pulled only 1 Character.....my 8 Drop Superman. Lois was promptly killed next attack thanks to 4 Savage beatdowns and that ongoing plot twist that pumps Revenge Squad members. Then another game I was playing a Galactus/Kree/Inhumans build. The inhumans consisted of only 3 Sans just to draw into those Galactus Locations. My friend, now my boss, was playing Gotham Knights. Beginning of the game he was wailing on my face then turn 6 I turn the game around by multi dropping krees. Then he tried to lock up the field....till Galactus came into play with the biggest character he had was that Robin from MoS needless to say he died panfully. Two turns after I won he woulda drawn Batman from the starter and the batbelt.
