Is there anything your local TO or UDE could have done better?
The reason I ask is because I'm getting a feeling the turnout for this ES will be less than the first one. I have to actually call individuals up and ask them to go.
The problem here is many of you asked for replacement PCQs and now that they are here... the players aren't showing. People are asking for OP announcements yet why would UDE continue to provide middle-high level OP support if no one shows up?
I've said this several times before but if you really want the game to have OP support, you really need to show up at these events.
Simply put, if it's economically and physically feasible... please go to your Elite Series event. And if you can't... was there something we could have done to help?

I am going. Thankfully we have an ES in London. What could UDE do better? Personally, I would be pleasantly suprised if prize support is in place for the tournament. That's my biggest issue. But I guess, I'm just grateful to have an event.
I'm sure I've made this observation before, but since this seems like a more organized thread to discuss it I'll jump in here too. :)
If there was an Elite Series that was up to 3-4 hours away, I'd be there in a heartbeat. No question. The only reason I'm not going is because the area of the country I'm in has been completely ignored.
Im biased I think that if my store would of had (store that is holding the biggest marque events in california) it would of had a lot better turn out.
The store that is doing it appears not really to care very much about VS.
If upperdeck would of put out prizing guild lines for prizing like we have talked about many times like use 15 of the entry fee on cards from the store and the store gets the 5 bucks for the space and the judge.
I agree Erick the turn out will be way down and i think part of it is that they are cards you can get at the points store I think the ideas of "EXCLUSIVE" EAs at the elite series was the best prize support
The closest one to me is over 4 hours away, so I will not be attending.
Part of the potential attendance problem may be that some of the ES locations seem to be places that have never supported VS in the past. Not the smartest move.
I'm uncertain on my attendance primarily for three reasons:
1. I have to run a business, and if I can't find someone who would tend to the store, I can't make it.
2. Got Kids :), nuff said.
3. Need three more cards to complete my deck.
My thought on the difference in turn out may be related to the fact that the first Elite series offered PC point, and without any indication of the future of the PC level OP, the interest may not be the same for some. If by some means, UDE hints at there being a future for a higher level OP and the outcome of the Elite series having some kind of impact to a players attendance of the said events, it would make a big difference.
I would love to go!!! The closest I have seen is one in like Texas. Why won't UDE let us have an ES here in Tulsa, IDK. I would shell out the cash in a heart beat!!! But since I am poor and don't like traveling far to not know anyone and get my tail kicked, I think i will be staying home. PLUS I got to work! =(
I'm going, but someone may need to sport me a deck to run, I'm on empty.
I think the biggest thing holding folks back (other than the unavoidables) is that without any apparent future, without any hope, without any dreams of more to come, why not just move on with life now instead of after sweating over deck choices play testing and $20 + travel.
I love VS. but if VS. don't love me back, I gotta get on with life, no point tryin' ta hold on to a honey that would rather be with someone else.
I'm going, but I'm not excited. Well, with the exception of getting to see Stu and some other friends from around the state that are coming in to play.
I don't have a deck that I'm really excited about playing. There are soooo many different options now, that I have no idea what to play. There's nothing a TO or store can do. I guess the future OP possibilities are kind of a downer, and reading here over and over and over and over and over about how vs is dead, doesn't help to get me excited either.
That being said, I will be there to let UD know that I want their support since they have mine.
BTW... if it's any consolation... the email with information regarding this Elite Series says there will be PC Points given out for this event in the same distribution as the last one.
I asked what the PC Points are for... and was not given a response.
well i think what everyone here is trying to say is that the locations of the ES are inconvenient. i think what the versus nation needs to get together and tell UDE what the prime locations would be so that more of a crowd could make it. i mean me and my friends are still attending the ES in NY but we still have to drive 3-4 hours to get there.
but i think one of the big problems is that the player base complains for things such as more PCQ's and then no one shows up. we finally get UDE to show some effort and WE dont make the effort ourselves to go to the actually event. so i figure if we could all just suck it up once or twice and make the effort to show up to the events UDE makes for us so then we might then have alittle more leeway with UDE to choose were the events are held. cause they are choosing these big areas because they are heavily populated and if they can get a player base in a big city. then why would they take a chance on some little town probably no one has heard of. thats just my two cents on the matter.
I think UDE should mete out some clearer guidelines. By not giving some more clearer guidelines, UDE essentially gave stores legitimacy to overcharge players. The way VS is, a lot of stores have adopted this attitude that there's no need to curry favor with the player base, so when the chance comes to make VS off the player base they just go all in to minimize expenditure/maximize profit.
I mean the first Elite Series was so awesome cause UDE planned mostly everything out. I seriously doubt we would've seen top 8 drafts and such had UDE not stepped in and intervened.
