1. Having more rares in this set made it harder to get numbers of certain rares.
2. There are good number of mid-tier rares.
3. Lower distribution of MVL adds to the scarcity (less product, higher value).

Well played, UDE. Well played.
Can we imagine what will happen if they ever announce a new OP? The Wolverine deck will cost $1000!!!
These auctions are all from one seller. The rest of the world doesn't seem to value 3 Omega Red at $13+ including shipping.
It seems like the Canadians value the cards higher than we do or the US dollar is at an all-time low compared to the Canadian dollar. I'm going to go with the latter spiced with a healthy dose of Wolverine fanboyism. Without consistent OP (Hobby League, City Champs) and timely set releases, the game has suffered tremendously.
There seems to be some scarcity issues when eBaying for MVL cards. There could be several reasons, but the likely candidates seem like these two:
1. A real demand that's outpacing supply for those cards
2. The one guy selling them is rationing them out in order to drive the price up while other sellers just aren't bothering to stock for what they perceive as a dead game.
I just need more Family of Four.... I be willing to beat-up a blind hobo for just 1 more of that card, I can't find them anywhere. We've probably busted like 5 boxes so far here in St. Louis and I've seen 1. On another note we have 3x Bodyslide, 2x Mobilize, 3x Beatdown
The scarcity is similar to the 6-Drop Joker from DWF. We busted so many boxes in draft and only were able to pull 1.
On a different note, why can't we get more Marvel Legends?? We're completely out of product, our store has searched far and wide, and we can't find any boxes out there from the distributors.
I really think it's an issue of product scarcity then it is desire.
All things being equal, card values eventually reach a certain level of... liquidity? Bad cards eventually descend to a low level, while good playable rares eventually reach a certain value and just sit there rather stably.
I mean... look at Domino: She's a very specific rare and not even necessarily a good one at that. I hope we can agree that she intrinsically isn't worth that much - yes Warren Buffet - and certainly not more then Boris who is listed $3.00 for 3. That leads me to believe that her value is being artificially inflated.
I would also point out that many of the expensive Wolverine cards all have the same bidder. Given how VS current demographic is generally a young professional with a fairly good amount of disposable income, I wouldn't be surprised to see slightly higher prices as convenience and access would likely be more important then money.
In addition, while it is good that the secondary market has cards of value, it's also note that this is in moderation - there's not going to be a lot of resistance if every playset costs about one bill. What's desirable is expensive good cards and cheap bad cards.
Finally, all cards are pretty expensive when they first come out. The real test will likely be how MVL's prices change when DCL comes out.
I'm not saying this is bad or VS is dead, but a better determiner for the health of the game is the turn out for your tournaments. While it is nice to see 11 people fervently bidding on a single lot... 11 people does not a healthy game make.
