Hello again! I'm looking for more help building great decks all over again. In this (and possibly future) threads, I'm going to post a great older deck in VS history and ask for your help bringing it up to date without changing its goal/foundation.
I actually covered this team a while back in my articles, but things have changed. What would you change about this deck:
DECK: MKKO
PLAYER: Karl Heinz Bergt
DATE: 7/18/05 ($10K Munich)
GOAL: Large concealed characters smashing face and KO'ing the opposition.
4 Mikado and Mosha, Angels of Destruction (1-drop)
1 Micro-Chip, Linus Lieberman (1-drop)
4 Iron Fist, Danny Rand (2-drop)
3 Hannibal King, Occult Investigator (2-drop)
3 Death-Stalker, Phillip Sterling (3-drop)
4 Elektra, Elektra Natchios (3-drop)
4 Luke Cage, Street Enforcer (4-drop)
3 Yelena Belova <> Black Widow, Enemy Agent (4-drop)
4 Daredevil, Matt Murdock (5-drop)
1 Spider-Man, The Spectacular Spider-Man (6-drop)
RULES:
1) Do not deviate from the point of the deck. I'm not trying to make a different deck, I'm trying to use newer cards to make this deck better.
2) Try to stay on-team if possible. Going wildly off-team leads to deviating from the point of the deck. (Plus, I like team-based decks.)
3) Please provide reasons for your changes. ("I would put this card in because of this, and take this card out because of this.")
4) Have fun!
This deck really took advantage of the then-new "Concealed" power, which remains probably the most defining change in the game. Now, the deck would get pounded by quicker (Quick... silver?) decks, and its flaws have become very visible. Forced to use Crime Lords characters and underwhelming 2-drops, Marvel Legends can definitely spice up this deck.
Starting question: Is the Elektra/Hulk/Team Tactics combo too good to pass up?
All comments and help are welcome! Thanks to everyone in advance for your help!
(Also, please let me know if you want to see more of these threads!)
I like Golden Age since I have lots of cards and want to use them all. So anything goes.
The Punisher Legend deck seems fun, but I don't want to make it an equipment deck (that's a totally different deck I want to build.) If you have equipment deck ideas though, throw them up!
Not in a gross way. Throw them up as in post them. You know what I meant.
2 Mikado and Mosha, Angels of Destruction (1-drop)
1 Micro-Chip, Linus Lieberman (1-drop)
1 Black Widow, Femme Fatale (1-drop)
4 Punisher, Suicide Run (2-drop)
3 Blade, Vampire Slayer (2-drop)
3 Morbius, Biochemical Bloodsucker (3-drop)
4 Black Panther, King of Wakanda (3-drop)
4 Wolverine, Covert Predator (4-drop)
2 Yelena Belova <> Black Widow, Enemy Agent (4-drop)
1 Elektra, Masterless Assasin (4-drop)
3 Daredevil, Matt Murdock (5-drop)
1 Captain America, Loyal Patriot (5-drop)
1 Vengeance, Spirit of Vengeance (5-drop)
1 Ghost Rider, Spirit of Vengeance (6-drop)
4 Crime and Punishment
4 Crushing Blow
4 Flying Kick
4 Quick Kill
4 Savage Beatdown
3 Big Leagues
4 Wild Ride
2 Mobilize
1 Mindtap Mechanism
so basically it's still beats-oriented, with a smattering of KO and burn effects. the one-ofs are for specific match-ups/situations, but pretty much every character is there to attack, hehehe.
Good deck! Funny how little characters from the MK set there are, yet the plot twists are basically the same. Would you mind talking about your 5 and 6-drop choices? (Why Cap, why no Hulk, etc.?) Also, what is better about Wolverine than Luke Cage? Yes, it's 1 less endurance if you have to go to the hidden, but Luke Cage has the same stats and that nifty second feature that lets you draw a card.
Cap - sometimes you just need to survive turn 5 to win on turn 6, hehehe.
no Hulk - haven't really tried him yet, but i think he's better suited for gimmick tricks like Elektra + Team Tactics... but maybe 1 copy wouldn't hurt?
Luke Cage - yeah, it's basically the pay 2 end instead of 3... although there's nothing wrong with having 3x Wolvie and 1x Luke for some variety, hehehe.
Actually, after looking at the deck again, I don't think that it needs to be explained. Everything is pretty straight forward. I probably should have chosen Elektra at 4 and Stick at 3, but meh. Everyone makes mistakes... or something.
I think the Genoshas bear some explanation, but I guess I see why they're there.
As you'll see from my build, I think Graymalkin really nailed the plot twists involved, and most of the character curve for me as well. My build so far:
Characters: 31
2 Mikado and Mosha, Angels of Destruction (1-drop)
1 Micro-Chip, Linus Lieberman (1-drop)
1 Black Widow, Femme Fatale (1-drop)
4 Punisher, Suicide Run (2-drop)
3 Blade, Vampire Slayer (2-drop)
4 Black Panther, King of Wakanda (3-drop)
3 Morbius, Biochemical Bloodsucker (3-drop)
4 Wolverine, Covert Predator (4-drop)
2 Yelena Belova <> Black Widow, Enemy Agent (4-drop)
1 Elektra, Masterless Assasin (4-drop)
3 Daredevil, Matt Murdock (5-drop)
1 Vengeance, Spirit of Vengeance (5-drop)
1 Ghost Rider, Spirit of Vengeance (6-drop)
1 Hulk, Savage Hulk (6-drop)
Plot Twists: 29
4 Crime and Punishment
4 Crushing Blow
4 Flying Kick
4 Quick Kill
4 Savage Beatdown
3 Big Leagues
4 Wild Ride
Equipment: 2
2 Mindtap Mechanism
The second Mindtap Mechanism is in case you've drawn one, so Black Panther can still get it for free. There may be better equipment here, though, and I'm in no position to rattle off equipment choices, so any suggestions? Doomstat, what was behind your equipment choices?
Also, is it worth playing something like Cosmic Conflict to move people out into the visible if necessary?
Agreed on Advanced Hardware's lack of concealed ruling it out. Otherwise, yes, it is kinda the perfect equipment.
Doggies? Is that Hounds of Ahab? If so, those are Sentinels. If not... I don't know what you mean.
I feel like the Genosha's would be dead cards until turn 6 and could be better used on pumps.
Also, I've given it some thought and Luke Cage really is the better option over Wolverine. Yes, it's 1 more endurance, but the possibility of drawing a card is... well, it's just swell.
