Ok so I decided to do another one of these cos I'm still playing with my camera. However I had only my Future Foes fully built still and I was a bit bored with them so I decided to make a new deck for this occasion. James, that nemisis of mine decided to rebuild one of his old decks as well.
Now my idea for a deck wasn't particuarly sophisticated this time, the thought process was something along the lines of "The Flash is #####in, I'm going to use as many flashes as I can." This gave me Jay Garrick, Barry Allen and Wally West to use. In here there was JSA/JLA so that was my team-up, my other character choices stemmed from, well I've heard this is good and this card can be good in this circumstance sort of choices. Needless to say it was poorly constructed.
Well, my deck was ready after about 10 minutes of building it and it was James' turn, he was rebuilding his Youth of Tomorow deck cos he likes kids or something. Well yeah, he built it and heres another photo of our deck construction process.
So, lets jump right into the game shall we? Justice vs Youth! As is traditional we rock paper scissored and how is also traditional I won with scissors again and took evens. Again the thinking behind this was I like Barry Allen. Apparently James wanted evens as well so it all worked out good anyway.
Turn 1, A calm begining. James to go first, I know this deck is weenielicous so I'm expecting a character to come punch me in the face, but instead I see a Tamaranian Garden get flipped up and search for Duella Dent. James succesfully tutored, a bad omen to be sure, James hates tutors. So here I am look at an empty field on my recruit with a Mr. Mxy one drop in my hand. It had to be done, you know it, I know it, so it was done. Swing for 1 with Mxy ends the turn.
50-49

Turn 2, Events set into motion. My recruit first and I'm looking at the distinct lack of a 2 drop in my hand. Lucky me though, I drew Snapper Carr, well the Cool Daddy-O hits the field with a splash in front of Mxy and I pass. James flips and activates his Cosmic Tuning Fork and hits Triad, he discards Dawn Granger <> Dove, the new one. He then proceeds to recruit Holly Granger only to realise he just discarded his only Dawn Granger in his deck. I laugh at him. We proceed. I want Mxy in the KO pile now and there is no way I can stun Holly so I swing Mxy into her. Stun, then she lays the smackdown on the Cool Daddy-O with a snap of her fingers.
Apparently my scorekeeping wasn't very good here because it should be 47-49 but it's down as 49-49. Bonus life for me.
Turn 3. A new Justice. James' inititaive again, he sets his Cosmic Tuning Fork going again and it hits again, this time netting him a Matter Eater Lad for a discard of a second Cosmic Tuning Fork. He then drops Duella Dent and Matter Eater Lad. Before my recruit Matter Eater Lad uses all of Duella Dents cosmic power to eat Mr.Mxy. The troublesome trickster is out of action. I look at my hand and again sigh, no 3-drop, I did pull a 2-drop though. Seems the god of the game wanted to annoy me today. I have pulled a tutor though! Secret Origins however won't help me here. So I underdrop Elongated Man, he's like plastic man but a dectitive as well, ya know. He also gets himself a Nth Metal so I can deal with some of these troublesome locations. This is not to be though as Matter Eater Lad swings into Snapper. I decide to reinforce. Luckily for me James forgets that Elongated Man has to exhaust to use his ability and he is saved this turn. James passes. Matter Eater Lad surges so he can eat more.
47-46 are the score that was down, I was probably doing shoddy score keeping due to note taking.
Turn 4, the Youth strikes back My inititaive! Things could be looking up now! But alas! Alack! The Vs Gods are still taunting me and give me only a 3 drop to under drop with. Shayara Thal <> Hawkwoman hits play (I have 1, and 4 Kendra Saunders, Identity power ups would of really helped, along with the JSA character.) I pass my build with nothing left to do, Mxy stares at me despondently from the removed from game pile wondering why I stopped loving him, I try not to look. James once more sets the Cosmic Tuning Fork vibrating and hits Jazmin Cullin, discarding a Terror Incognita to keep her in hand. Apparently he doesen't need alt win conditions to get this one, cocky bastard. He brings in Jazmin for free on Matter Eater Lads counter. The the Tamaranian Garden comes into action to find Mia Dearden. She hits the field along with the only adult in the Legion, R.J Brande.
So I get into action with Elongated Man attacking Holly and powering up out of range, only to be shot back down to size by Mia. Damn archers. Both characters stun. R.J Brande then takes Mia's cosmic counter and converts it into a card. Shayara is looking angrily over the other side of the field, her mate has just been shoot by an archer then attacked by an Avatar of Chaos, needless to say she wants to get some smacking done, so she does, hitting Jazmin Cullin, who gets reinforced. 'Oh well, goes my train of thought, at least I KO'd one.' But no, apparently this isn't to be the case as a Foiled Assination returns Jazmin to hand to recover Holly. Bloody Legion. James passes his combat. Matter Eater Lad surges.
I forgot to mark on what the scores at the end of the turn here were.
Turn 5, Return of the annoying kids. The turn kicks off in grand style with James' Cosmic Tuning Fork hitting again and grabbing Kid Devil in exchange for a First Date. Jazmin comes in for free again off Matter Eater Lad's counter. A Team-Up is flipped and the Youth of Tomorow is about to cause a ruckus for the establishment, damn youngsters. Element Lad then makes his presence known and brings Triad with him. Who searches herself out twice more. Getting full use out of all his resource points. He also gets a T-Jet on Element Lad. All this makes my build look wholly unimpresive in comparison. I recruit Wally West <> The Flash and whimper a little at the size of my opponents board. Flash also feels the same way and smacks Element Lad before anything can happen. In response R.J Brande turns Element Lads counter into a card. After the stun a foiled assination sends Brande back to hand to recover Element Lad. So now it's time for combat!
Triad and Triad team attack into a Wally, with a Science Police Central flipping making it 8 attack total from the T-Jet as well. Elongated Man has something to say about this after Wally powers up off a Reform the League and a second Mr.Mxy. He exhausts to burn down the Science Police Central, the crazy arsonist that he is. Continuing his luck streak however James replaces into a second Science Police Central, meaning Elongated Man just exhausted to filter my opponents deck. Good times. Flash goes down hard from the double team, and from Triad, who wouldn't? One of the Triad stuns back. Before she goes down however Matter Eater Lad uses her cosmic powerness to eat the second Mr. Mxy, poor Mxy. Mia tries to wingclip Shayara and with a little help from the T-Jet she manages to do just that for a mutual stun. Matter Eater Lad then has a bone to pick with the Cool Daddy-O, he insulted his taste in clothes no doubt, and it ends with violence and Snapper getting a bite taken out of him with breakthrough. The Jokers Daughter then decided to finish things off by tackling Mr. Stretch. Both Stun again. The rest of his board swings direct for 7. Owie.
Turn 6. Bad enough to be the equivilant of Episode 1. So yeah, things aren't looking so good, I have Wally West left and thats it. At least I have a 6 drop in hand. Jay Garrick blazes onto the field, him also being my first JSA character. With a JSA character on the field I play A Moment of Crisis naming The Flash just go get the card. The Gods still playing their game with me gave me Barry Allen. Oh well, I pass my build and the Cosmic Tuning Fork sets off once more, hitting Dream Girl. Another Cosmic Tuning Fork is discarded to it in the process. James then proceeds to flood the field with his 'delicous weenies' (Bonus points for anyone who gets the refrence) Kid Devil, Dream Girl, Timber Wolf with a boost, R.J Brande and Sensor hit the field, maxing out his resource points. Also the fact that Sensor has hit the field annoys me as I formated with Wally behind Jay just to activate. I try it anyway and Sensor cancels. R.J Brande once again uses Matter Eater Lad to get a card for the mastermind across from me, he is a mastermind honestly, look.
Turn 7. Showdown So I'm not in the best of positions, but at least I have my 7 drop in hand right? Right. James sets off with a Tamaranian Garden to fetch Bart Allen, recruits him and stops there. Apparently thats all he can do. Now with no range he has to front row everyone.
I recruit Superman - Avatar of Peace (Which always strikes me as funny as he is obviously frying some poor sucker with his heat vision.) Combat starts with Dream Girl taking a shot at Wally. A discard to Reform the League with the name of Barry Allen brings him out of range. Element Lad puts him back in range. Dream Girl predicts Wally's path and scarifices herself to take him down. Looking at who is left Bart Allen, Timber Wold and Duella Dent decide to gang up on poor old Jay Garrick, the wisend speedster doesen't stand a chance. He gets Timber Wolf down in the fray though. He isn't quite down and out yet as he comes back in a weakened state. Now the rebellious teens set their sights on Big Blue. Kid Devil, Jazmin Cullin, Matter Eater Lad and a Triad swing in with a combine 17 attack. One of them must of had Kyptonite on them as Supes goes crashing down. He lands on Matter Eater Lad though. With only 6 endurance left and weakened Jay Garrick I know my time is up as Element Lad, Sensor and Holly Granger all come in to finish him off. He stuns back Element lad, not that it will make a diffrence.
Final score 0-35 (techincally -2-35 but I won't tell him if you won't)
A cat. Our Cat. He's evil. He wants to go outside. He gets his wish.
Things to take away from this match. Rushing a deck is never good. Cats can be evil. Mxy doesen't like it when he can't play. Underdropping is bad. Other things too.
