I have seen this discussed in other threads, but I was wondering if there has been any indication from UDE (and if not, could there be) regarding future supply of Marvel Legends?
Here in Australia, supply of sealed product is practically exhausted. My shop has a couple of loose boosters left, but the wholesaler no longer has any boxes.
I can deal with UDE increasing the rare count in these sets, even though it means my consumption has had to increase, but it seems insane that the company wouldn't then produce enough product to supply the increased demand this action created.
Obviously there is an improvement for the secondary market as a result of all this, but I don't see how that puts money in UDE's pocket or significantly helps most of the fan base.
Is the shortage of Marvel Legends as prevalent as it seems (based on the Australia situation and numerous posts from American Realmers)?
If so, are there any plans to produce more Marvel Legends?
Should I be trying to order from overseas ... the thing players in Australia were told not to do because it has contributed to us having our OP, including Hobby League and Release Celebrations, all but abolished?
We're still a number of weeks anyway from DC Legends and no one in my local playing community has been able to purchase as much Marvel Legends as they would have liked (we're drafting Marvel Team-Up this weekend, which is far from ideal).
Are other players experiencing a shortage of MVL, or is it just us?
Here the deal here in NZ, we were told aswell that we needed to buy from our local supplier in order to have our chances of OP support enhanced. I run the biggest Hobby/card store in New Zealand and I was fully behind trying to keep OP in NZ. When Worlds Finest came out our suppliers got one case for the whole country, we took all of it sold out then we had to get more from overseas as our supplier didn't get anymore in.
Before Marvel Legends came out I place an order with our suppliers, 2 weeks after Legends release our supplier still didn't have any stock, so I again had to order from overseas. Our supplier never got any Legends stock in the end, so I had to keep ordering from overseas.
Which has meant great delays in getting the cards into the players hands, we have been sold out for about 2 weeks and are hoping to get some more in before DC Legends comes out.
The sad thing about it is we have sold 3 1/2 cases of Marvel Legends and we could of sold more but because we have had to bring it in ourselves it looks to UDE that New Zealand has bought no Marvel legends. So I fear we will still be stuck with just reading about the cool OP support and not get to see any of it.
My retailer is out of DWF, but I think he could get more. It's more of a matter of him having MTU in stock ... and if we have to draft an older set, then it doesn't matter too much which one it is of that last two.
So, no one has heard of any plans to produce/release more? Australia has run out of MVL in about two months ... so you would think there would be a significant financial incentive for UDE to supply the increased demand.

I applaud your commitment, Iain. Without you, UDE would not have a continuing Vs market in New Zealand.
I don't understand why, when there is clearly a market for such things, that there isn't an effort on the part of the supplier or the company to try to meet that demand. I'm not a retailer (as you are), but that just seems to be the way it would work to me.
It's frustrating.
Anyway, I might drop you an e-mail about how you do things. We might have to go that way in the future if suppliers are unable/unwilling to service our needs in the future.
The problem here with the supplier here in NZ is vs is just one of the many licences they carry and due to the fact there isn't much of a market out side us (the 3 Vagabond Game stores) they don't see there is any money to be made, even though I continue to sell heaps of product.
As always I'm more than happy to help my fellow ANZACs, if there is anything I can do to help feel free to contact me.
I have been meaning to take a trip to OZ, since there hasn't been any 10k's I have only made it over once this year. Maybe I'll have to crash an ACT draft some time in 08.
You and Honest would be proud of me my Insanity deck has a 42-19 win lose record, Inmates for life.:p
