Okay, I'm not personally attached to any the legends. So I'm going to vote for the legend that is most likely to get more people to play VS.
Iron Man (Tony Stark)
Captain America (Steve Rogers)
Hulk (Dr. Bruce Banner)
Red Skull (Johann Schmidt)
Annihilus
Current comic book stories aside, this is all about mass appeal and getting particular fan-boys and fan-girls to try the card game so they can emulate their hero (*even though I think this is a bad overall business model.) So who's the one legend who will get the most non-VS playing people to play VS and why?
Probably Hulk or Cap, since they are the most well known. That said, the Iron Man movie is coming out this summer...
Ahhh, that's great information about the Iron Man movie -- didn't know that one.
Another way to look at this:
Which legend would sell more VS if the display box/packs have a big picture of him on it?
Which legend is more likely to generate someone to say: "I heard about VS but never played it. But when VS made a huge deal about __<insert Legend name here>__, I had to try the game."
Actually all of them ARE Legends (a point I am not reading enough in the numerous threads about this vote), the one who wins the votes just gets a couple more cards.
Hulk is experiencing an upsurge of popularity, but such surges don't often last too long, and now that the Hulk's big events are done, he'll likely fade back into the well-known not-quite-obscurity that he was in for so long. Hulk doesn't have the iconic potential to survive as a popular star without Marvel constantly pushing his product in our face, which they likely won't do.
Iron Man lost a lot of his popularity after CW, and it's kept getting worse and worse. I've talked to more than a couple long-time Iron Man fans who are disgusted at how much of a dick he's become.
Red Skull is only known for killing Cap, and while he's a cool villain, he's not terribly well known.
Only relatively big comics fans would know who Annihilus is, and while I love it when they pander to the comic audience, it has been pointed out to me repeatedly on this site that pandering just to that audience is bad.
Cap made the papers, and the news. Cap's shield was on the Colbert Report. Say what you want about the Hulk smashing him or whatever, but Cap is a whole different level of Star Power than the other nominees could ever hope to achieve.
Hulk and Iron Man have movies coming out when the set hits.
Captain America was in the papers when he died, but by the time the set is actually out, that will have been a long time. His movie won't be out for another year after that. Both those things equate to Iron Man and Hulk likely getting more 'mainstream' attention at the time.
Considering that Spidey just happened to be in the black suit when his film came out ... I'm reasonably sure that the characters with movies coming out will have storylines and such trying to bring focus on them around the same time.
Hulk isn't just experiencing an upsurge in popularity; he's been redefined as a character with more depth and more raw power than before.
Also, he's had a movie and TV show already (two TV shows). He's in the public mind... and he looks damn impressive when drawn well. Looking good is important.
