My store stopped selling VS singles a while ago. Last weel however, one of the employees found some misc. VS and Raw Deal rares they still had when they pulled them from the case. They where put out in a plastic container marked MISC RARES $2. I looked through and found the following:
Total Anarchy EA. nice, this makes 2 for me.
Mr. Mxyzltpk, Troublesome Trickster. I had been looking for this guy.
Wild Ride. would give me my playset.
Foil Bring Down The House. why not? it looked like a good mk card.
Wolverine, Berserker Rage. ooh, definataly if i decide to try x-men.

FOIL ENEMY OF MY ENEMY. For 2 Dollars! I almost took advantage of this obvious mistake, they had it in the case for $35 last i had checked, and in any case 2 bucks is a steal! However, i had been coming to this store for 5 years, i felt bad doing that so i said something to the guys working. they ended up selling me all the cards for $25. at the original 2 dollar price for the other cards, that means i spent 15 for the eome. still pertty good, plus my concience is sound.
i would have brought it for 2 bucks that like when a gas station attending gives you 2 much money you say hey u made a mistake and they give u even more money
at the same time, this wasn't just a random gas station, this was a business that has been letting me and my friends hang out and play games with little fuss, most of the emploees are friends, whatever game i've played i have recieved help and advice from them in some form, and they've even been trying to help me track down an mvl box. they've been good to me and their customers so these guys deserve that in return, it would be like ripping of a friend who didnt know the value of a card they were selling you.
Integrity is doing what's right, even when nobdy is looking.
... Work is starting to seep into my everyday life.
That's awesome. Kudos to you for having the integrity to correct their mistake. It's awesome to take the right path, and the one that helps your FLGS. *applause*
I find this story kinda funny because I just walked in the door from buying my wife her valentine's day cards(Wolverine, AoA for her legends deck). I asked the store owner what he wanted for 4x Wolverine, AoA and 4x Survival of the Fittest. He's like 'How about... $12.00?'. I'm thinking 'Dude, that's crazy. You can sell those for more than that' and I reply 'How does $15.00 sound?'. He looks at me like the jackass I am and says 'No, $12's just fine' My FLGS owner PWNS!
I think that if your needed to do that to keep you conscience clear then thats what you needed to do. However, from an objective standpoint i dont think it was necessary. Most of those cards have been worth more than 2 bucks in the past. Mxy went for 15 as soon as crisis hit the shelves, wild rides as much as 25, and during its heyday Enemy sold for as much as 50. That is no longer the case. You can buy boxes of Spiderman for 5 bucks at some places. Stores are getting out of VS selling things well below what they once sold for, to create shelf room. Stores just want to move less popular product. Your store got out of vs singles and obviously didnt sell those cards before they wanted to change what was in the display (probably because they were listed for more than anyone would pay). They just wanted to get rid of them (i would assume). 2 bucks for an Enemy may have amounted to thievery a year and a half ago, but it was released as a promo since then. Also, it will rotate out of silver age with the next set, relegating it to the random golden age tourney and casual play.
I disagree with thinking badly about buying it for $2. Like, they were selling their rares because they couldn't sell them otherwise; it's rotting in the display case.
Ultimatly, they didn't mismark it, they were trying to liquidate. The Wild Ride for $2 and Mr. M for $2 were also WAY underpriced by our standards, but price of cards is in the eye of the beholder, the store would have happily sold it for $2 and been glad to have gotten rid of the card.
i agree with dave and im sure there are times where they have jacked up the price on certain rares and stuff so its all equal or the boxes cost more than online
