In the past, they had a booth set up. I'm not sure about reimbursement.

I'm curious about the 'paperwork' now that there's no monetary gains.

The impression I got was that you have to cover your own badge, without reimbursement, but that the tournament entry would be free*.

If it was like it was at the Gen Con PC's, there will be a station near the regular registration for you to get your Origins badge from UDE. If you already bought a badge, then you'll need to go to the Origins customer service booth after you get your badge from UDE.
