Katana's ability says, "Pay 2 endurance -> KO target character that was stunned by Katana while she was team attacking this turn. Use only during the combat phase." When does this ability have to be triggered? Can I trigger it before I make the attack or does Katana have to be around after the attack is over to pay two and KO the character? Thanks in advance!

It has to be after the attack, because the target must be a character that was stunned by Katana during a team attack she was an attacker in. They can be a stunned or even non-stunned character, but as long as Katana stunned them during a team attack this turn, they can be KO'd by her ability.

No. It's only during the combat phase. Her exact text is posted above. I double checked it before I answered. :)

oh wow then I must have got her confused with the location.

Simple version: she needs to team attack, stun the defender, and either not get stunned, or recover after she's stunned. She has to be non-stunned at some point during the combat phase after the attack is completely finished.
