Human Torch, Fiery Friend is really confusing me,

It says

Pay X +X this turn> Stun target character with Def X or less. Use only during the combat phase and only if Human Torch has not been in combat this turn.

So... this being the case, you have to Pump our friend Torch outside of combat...

I would have to give him +5 ATK to pay that +5... am I reading this correctly? There isn't that many cards out there that pump outside of combat.. only a few come to mind and one of which is a Secret Society plot Twist.. With Prejudice,

I could be missing the mark here, but does this card suck?

Easier phrasing: he pays X ATK, where X is an even number, and stuns a character with (X/2) DEF or less. He always pays twice as much ATK as the DEF of the guy he's stunning. By default, he can stun a dude with 7DEF.

Out-of-combat pumps aren't required, but they do make him better.

Ah... that clears things up... I'm adding the "X" that I want to Pay together.. So, I couldn't pay 8+8 because I don't have 16 ATK...

well... lets see what I can do to break this card then. (not too many cards to work with :) lol

Lets Pay ZERO, and stun the guy with ZERO def :)

Here I go!

You have to pay twice the attack with Human Torch than the actual value of the character to be stunned. Lets say the character you want to stun has a value of 6 DEF. If so you would have to pay 12 ATK to stun him. If the opponent plays an effect or PT to pump his characters effect in response to that, then upon resolution of Human Torch's power he will not be stunned.

Out of combat pumps are really hard to come by but not impossible. Remember he must of not been in combat in order to use his ability.

Absolutely... Instead of using pumps.. I just kill the DEF with the help of Natasha Romanoff ¤ Black Widow, Mighty Avenger I can attack with her and then Pay the attack and then.. BAM... but yes.. that is why I have -DEF plot twists in the deck to keep the DEF low.. If the DEF is 0 than I can pay 0 :)
