Revealed in the Resource Row

I saw this in the "What beats Exiles MA?" thread and it got me thinking...

My question: Do you just show your face down resource to your opponent so it will be "revealed" or do I have to use cards with effects that would require me to reveal cards from my resource row so that they will be "revealed"..?

You show the resource to your opponent, revealing it has reservist, then recruit it. You don't need to play something that reveals your resource row.
