Start of a format, and a slower one at that, is always a good time to try chain burn again :) Was thinking about it a week ago, and saw someone elses build on another site. Not that good, but it reminded me that I can now play gorz in this :p
Specifically i'm wondering if I should play zero gardna's or battle faders now. Battle fader needs a direct attack, so I think that shuts me off from dimension and cylinder. Zero gardna is of course succeptible to monster removal. Typically play less monsters renders more cards useless. At the same time, more protection means I live longer. So far my focus is on draw with a total of 11 draw cards in here, hoping to draw out enough damage in 3 turns or less. I'm still a little scared of running reckless in here, but I figure its the only way to get enough draw in there ... I opted to leave out scapegoat because its a blackwing meta ...
This is what I have so far ...
4
1 Morphing Jar
2 Lava Golem
1 Gorz, Emissary of Darkness
7
3 Poison of the Old man
2 Chain Strike
2 Tremendous Fire
28
3 Accumulated Fortune
3 Jar of Greed
3 Legacy of Yata-Garasu
3 Just Desserts
3 Secret Barrel
3 Dimension Wall
2 Reckless Greed
2 Waboku
3 Threatening Roar
1 Ojama Trio
1 Ceasefire
1 Magic Cylinder
1 Gravity Bind
If you are afraid of Reckless Greed, you could run Good Goblin Housekeeping. You don't draw as much, but the cost is much less than losing 2 turns (and that's if you play 2 or 3 at once).
Too be honest I'd be more afraid of drawing Accumulated Fortune x2. That card can mess over as many hands as it helps. I'd lose 1.
Yeah, that's also true...I guess one could drop 1 Fortune and 1 Greed for 2 GGH or something. Emergency Provisions could be another consideration (activated in a later Chain Link, of course) just in case.
GGH is too slow for this deck. I loved that card in more control paced decks, like my old clock deck, but this deck can't afford an early -1. I did think about a rogue copy of emergency provisions. I means its an easy 3000 LP and that can make the difference between losing or buying another turn and drawing what I need. Accumulated isn't a problem. If you get two early on its usually pretty easy to chain them both in the same chain (admittedly a 5-card chain, but if I don't have that, then I have the needed cards to stall one or two turns). It can suck drawing in one late when your hand is low, but usually when that happens you were pretty much going to lose anyway.
So far I've removed one tremendous and both reckless greeds for two copies of fire darts and a third waboku. I like what its doing so far. I was a bit weary of fire darts because of the no hand thing, but it hasn't been dead yet. I've experimented with LLAB instead of the last tremendous, and thinking maybe I should main the goats in that slot anyway. But a single card change is hard to evaluate short term.
Koala's are great early game, but I'd rather keep the monster count as low as possible because it renders a lot of cards they have dead. I could side them, like I side mallon, most people side out monster removal for game 2 giving me the edge with that. Stealth bird is too slow with too little stall to get multiple uses out of it though.
I don't think so...only other thing I could think of being Meteor of Destruction (if you can get it earlier on). If it weren't for giving the opponent LP, then I'd say Upstart Goblin for a quicker draw card. If there were more Magic Cards, then I'd say Magical Explosion over Fire Darts, but with only 7, you'd need to use them all up early on to get the max amount of damage.

Especially with only one explosion. But I do need to side to a build that can withstand sided decrees and trap stuns, so 3 koala's, reaper, mallon and a full set of tremendous fire, supplemented with two twisters or double snares (depending on the threat) and an MST seem solid as a start. wonder if wave motion would make sense in that side ?
I think it could work. It would be a nice distraction at the very least, so the opponent will start a chain by trying to remove it, which you could capitalize on by chaining more cards so you don't need to use an extra card to start the chain.

I'm not missing any massive burn cards, right ?
I don't believe you can activate 2x Accumulated fortune in the same chain.
"You cannot activate this card if multiple cards/effects with the same name are in that chain." - This included accumulated fortune.
Decree is at 2 now, it will be less of a force to deal with.
Side Dust Tornadoes/Dark Bribes to deal with them and Trap stun.
Consider cards like Reflect Bounder and Zoma the Spirit.
Other monsters that could possibly be sided for some extra burn could be Volcanic Buckshot/"Scattershot" and Volcanic Counter. (With Necro Gardna at 1 and all.)

When you chain accumulated fortune to accumulated fortune, there still isn't a card with the same name in the chain at point of activation. Same applies to chain strike. As long as there are no other cards with the same name in the chain, and you can chain both accumulateds or chain strikes to each other at the end of the chain, its quite effective.
But good thing you pointed this out nonetheless, i'm going to have to print these rulings out and take them with me, cause this is bound to come up.

Reflect bounder is a good way to deal extra damage ...
Even with Decree, depending on the Traps, you could still at least go through Chain Links as it does not prevent Trap activations, so you could still go through until Chain Strike for the damage.

And I do, asking if they want to chain after every step, knowing they will let me play through at least three cards that way, so I can trigger two and stop to get some more stuff going, and likewise if they chain a decree to a dimension wall I'll stack the damage and draws on top. Sadly, it means you have to win the game with that play or lose out.
Or at least add on a Mystical Wind Typhoon (or just plain MST) to kill off Decree during the chain and let the rest resolve successfully. =)
Well I do side two twisters and an MST. Both are pretty solid as chain links regardless, twister can be chained to any previous trap targetting that as well if you are just looking for a link. I used to side these in standard for game 2, but these days I might be facing trap stun instead as well.
