I had a problem in a tournament the other day. We were playing on an outdoor map that was a construction site. There are piles of mud or dirt in a few places. And one of them is elevated. Now I Know that if on top of this building it works like hindering terrain for movement. My opponent was on top of the mud roof with a bunch of stealth guys on the edge. There were no objects placed there and when I went to attack him he said I could not see him because he was on hindering terrain so he was stealthed. Is this true?
The map FAQ has yet to be released. I've seen this pile being ruled as either blocking terrain or elevated terrain. It's definitely not hindering terrain.
I haven't actually seen the map though, I'm going mostly by what others have gotten from the judges' forum and posted here (searched for "construction" "map" "dirt" "pile").

From Dr. Gandalf's Map rulings on the Judges Forums of WK:
"The dark brown area with the truck backed up to it is a big pile of dirt with a ramp leading up to it. It is considered to be elevated and hindering terrain."
All map clarifications carry an emphatic "subject to change" notice and the actual document has not been published yet, so really it's the Judge's call, but the above ruling is the way it looks right now.
Hopefully all rulings get rolled into an offical Map FAQ soon. We've been promised it's coming, but there are a few other documents that appear will need to be finalised first.
I am almost positive it is Elevated Terrain. Not hindering terrain. I am at work and can not get to the Judges Forum at the wizkids site from here, But I will check it and post back later tonight. Unless another Judge can get to it now.

Well, that'll teach me to go with outdated sources. But elevated and hindering? Yeesh, I'm glad I don't play with that map.
Thanks for getting it from the judges' forum. Hopefully we'll be seeing the map FAQ soon so it can be "official".

They really should have made it hindering for movement but not for obstructing LOF.
I mean, mud/dirt? It would slow you down but I don't see Batman tunnelling into it.
Also, I wish WizKids would allow characters with the dolphin move symbol to treat water as hindering terrain for LOF to represent them actually swimming in it. It would make the ability slightly more useful.
Me and a friend were wondering about the avengers mansion outdoor map
the big portion where apparently the mansion starts, is that the roof of the mansion (elevated terrain) or like just the patio-welcome area-whatever (clear terrain)

From what I can remember of the map, there is no thick black line around the squares in that area so it's not elevated and is just a welcome area. If nobody has access to the map by sometime tonight I'll try to dig it out to make sure (haven't used it in a while).
