Made this when i realized that Sabers, unlike just about every other deck, actually have a decent matchup against Post-STOR Six Samurai decks because they can run and abuse 3 copies of pashuul and turn them into real threats like Hyunlei and Naturia Beast. Spirit reaper is seeing play all over the OCG because it buys at least a turn and likely more against six samurai OTK swarms. Even Samurai decks themselves run it for the mirror (although pashuul fits better there as it can double as a fourth copy of kagemusha of the Six Samurai).
But the beauty of Sabers is that they can drop Naturia Beast if the samurai player isn't set up yet, which really hurts against a deck running mostly summon stoppage (BTH, Solemn warning, Solemn Judgment, Torrential) and 17-18 spells, or drop hyunlei when they are set up to eliminate gateway of the six and six samurai united. On top of that, they will usually swarm pretty well themselves from time to time and run enough tuners to maindeck a copy of Puppet plant and side two more, giving them the power to come back as well. Here's what i had so far :
Mirror, torrential and dark hole are hard to push through against Samurai, but given the disruption sabers can cause I feel they have to be included. Reinforce truth helps find pashuul faster and MST and Book of Moon are natural enemies of the samurai deck when drawn on turn one.
I look at this and half think you have teched it to beat SS a the expense of other matchups. Why main Gorz? Puppet Plant (yea, he's good against SS but what else?) Not a fan of Mind Control either (just feel there's too much disruption around for it to work often), same with Mirror Force.

I think you are a little unclear on how many samurai you'll be facing after STOR :p Its virtually the only deck played in OCG right now :p Since Sabers are most likely going to be your next biggest threat, I fail to see how gorz or puppet plant will be dead a lot. Grabbing a fulhelm or pashuul blocking my way, or stealing a faultroll, bringing back pashuul or fulhelm and synchro'ing it off is rarely a bad play.
Mirror Force is all in all a terribly poor card because of how static it is, however, having another mass destruction card after samurai negate your first usually means the difference between winning and losing.
Mind control, you may have a good point. It just works for me now, so I kept it. It will usually only work if you can get shien off the field first.
Ok. But Debris and GKs might still see quite a bit of play. IMO SS are WAY overhyped. I'll wait until I see how they play here before I put in Puppet Plant or the like. From what I've seen they ARE completely RELIANT on Gateway, without out it they are just a beatdown build with some spec. summon ability; they essentially don't apply pressure. The way I play can put a free Hyunlei on the board very fast in game 1 (usually under Wave) and thus disabling Gateway and having a 2300 beater.

I can understand that statement to an extent but why main a card that is "in all a terribly poor card"?

It was the same for me. It got suggested that I take it out so I sided it (for Mirror and Scraps) and now I've dropped it and haven't really looked back. It was nice but with all the disruption around...

Did you not see the youtube video I posted on the deck depot thread i made on samurai ? Should give you an idea of how it plays. Hyunlei just isn't fast enough. Two or three copies of Musakani no matagama (Counter Trap - when you have a six samurai monster on your side of the field, negate and destroy any card with an effect that destroys cards) stand in hyunlei's way, and with a shien on the field they can negate any spell or trap once per turn. Solemn warnings, book of moons etc will be blocking your path as well, and several large monsters. The game usually won't take more than 2, 3 turns if you are lucky. You'll need to rely heavily on pashuul to survive. Then decide where to go from there and hopefully change your mind about puppet plant, the one card they can't stop.

It helps to maindeck against the matchup that will be 50-60% of your games...
Traded for a second ultra GEC today. Now I almost feel obligated to get a third and three super fulhelmknights. At that point only cold wave, trap stun and pashuul are still unfoiled.
What about Kinetic Soldier? What can get over that? Put it in def and...Yes Zanjii and Hand but anything else?
I did see the vid you posted up and he seemed to open with a good hand (Gateway and United), that won't happen all the time or extremely often. I have 3 PoD, 3 Emmers, 3 Rat, etc and it unusual that I get a combination of 2 cards that I run 3 of in my first 8 cards.

I almost always do, but then I do run everything in 3's. A single gateway is enough to set up an unbreakable field. And don't forget the number of plays this deck can still make without gateway. Kinetic soldier isn't a huge problem. Its 4 bushido counters to boost shien up to 3500 ATK and run over it. You'll have that to spare most of the time. Anything that has to attack fails as well, since shien has the substitution effect.
I could understand Gorz seeing mainstain. It breaks an OTK and gives as good as it gets. However, even undertaking the major threats of the format (for which Karakuri was called on and failed, Herald almost made it,) I highly doubt that Samurai is going to take off until someone hits Top 4 at Nat's with it. The ability to still get Nat Beast on the board is absolutely pitoval and likely if you can do it, would be the first thing I suggest.
However, considering I've never piloted (despite my attempts to) a X-Saber Deck, the only things I can really worry over is the Random Puppet plant, which I think should go in the side.
