I was thinking of building an army around the Fickett's Fifty adventuring company card for a game we have this weekend. While I was choosing figs and thinking of viable strategies, I found certain issues with the card's rule text that I'll need to clarify first before choosing the final roster of my army.
And what better place to find answers than here.:)
I don't know if these issues were raised before already so...
Fickett's Fifty text:
Each member can target an additional target when it is given a ranged combat action.
When a member targets multiple figures with a ranged combat attack it gains +1 to its ranged combat value for the attack, and it must deal at least 1 damage to each target against which the attack succeeds.
Notice that I highlighted the second paragraph as this was the part that got me kinda stumped.
First question:
If I have a figure target 2 figs (1 normal target + 1 additional as per the AC rule text) I get an automatic +1 to my ranged damage value. If my attack succeeds at only one of those targets, do I still get that +1 ranged damage and deal it to that single target I successfully hit? The rule text only stated you need to TARGET multiple figs to get the +1 ranged damage for that attack and deal at least 1 ranged damage to target/s successfully hit by that attack.
Second question:
How does Fickett's Fifty work with Bombardment? I've seen several bombardment builds in the old threads here in the realms with Fickett's Fifty but they didn't actually state the synergy (if at all) of the two abilities.
If my bombardment fig has a 2 ranged damage value and its bombardment attack was able to tag multiple targets (after resolving the attack roll to the token, token drift, etc.), will my bombardment fig get +1 to its ranged damage value? If so, it now has the potential to deal 3 ranged damage to each target successfully hit? Likewise, if the bombardment attack was able to tag only a single target, it doesn't get the +1 ranged damage?
This is the first time I'll be using this card so I apologize for the noobie questions on this. Thanks in advance for your help.:)

Yes, your interpretation would be correct.

Scattershot would make a good compliment to this combo. Belive it or not, I used to utilize Scattershot's bombardment to great effect up until the end of the game. But I think that's only because nobody ever expected anyone to use a bombardment attack.
I've just recently seen the beauty of Scattershot and am aiming to get one soon as well. That fig was what inspired me to build this army for our next game, though for now my bombarder is a ***Steam Mauler. Have used it a couple of times before but not extensively and not with Fickett's Fifty. The aforementioned Scattershot army I faced last week used a Steelhands AC.
Of course, it will not be 'Fickett's Fifty' without Commander Townley on leadership duties. Though I will dub this army of mine as 'Fickett's Five'.
I'll share more details on the build after our game this weekend.
Nice! Bombardment+big base for items=Scattershot. I did a little research in about ago year or so, and found out there are not a lot items he can use with the bombardment attacks... he can wield the Enchanted Fuser Rifle and the Bracers of the Ranger. I dont recall if he has arching fire, but the bombardment attack can really use the +1-2 modifier.
For the same reason, use the Crown of Khamsin. A little synergy between it and the Fickett's Fifty that is the ***Dwarven Runelord(cohort) is a very good wielder of the Crown. Also the **Runelord. is a fairly good caster for a BPR team.
Another thing to consider is the Stone of Scrying.
But I guess you have to find the balance between the needed items and needed attack rolls.
Anyways, thanks for the basic idea. I already considering putting together a bombardment army, and managed to aquire 2 ***Steam Maulers, but I find the **'s are much better point-wise. Oh well, nothing can be perfect.
