I had a random idea to try running a DDT type deck with Genex Ally Birdman and Reborn Tengu in the mix to spice things up. Right now I just have a ton of different ideas so I need help focusing things. Here's a rough list of what I'm thinking about and cards that I'm considering.
Tengu seems insane here since you could drop Tengu, Monster Gate it for something else, Special Summon a Tengu, kick it back to your hand to Special Summon Birdman, Synch Birdman and Tengu for a Level 7 Synchro, and Special Summon another Tengu all off of two cards. That nets you some pretty crazy fire power regardless of what you get off of Monster Gate.
A Feather of a Phoenix? It allows you to add your Tengu back to your deck as well as any spells that you may want to stack for Diamond Dude. I used to play it alongside Plaguespreader and Beginning of the End back in the day.
I agree, I'm definitely going to add all of those plus Dark Hole and Monster Reborn.

I've been batting around the idea of A Feather of a Phoenix and Plaguespreader Zombie a lot since I posted this today. I'm pretty sure I'm going to add in Plaguespreader for it's interaction with Diamond Dude and Tengu. If I end up having extra room I'll try out Feather too.
Any thoughts on 2 vs 1 copies of Dark Simorgh and what the right number of monsters for this deck is? I feel like it probably shouldn't run more than 14 monsters. I'm also wondering if I should drop 1 Diamond Dude for Jinzo because the deck could really use his protection, especially in today's metagame. My only concern there is that it would get rid of one of the Warriors that I'm playing for Phoenix Blade.

Hmm I'm on the fence a bit myself. I would definitely try out the Dark Simorghs at first, but you shouldn't be too surprised if they turn out to be a bit lackluster. That would be the first thing I cut to be honest. I think anywhere between 14-16 monsters would be ideal and playing Dark Simorgh may force you to play more. Come to think of it, it is a bit out of place in here...
Why do you say that? I can grab it with Monster Gate or Reasoning and I basically only run Dark and Wind monsters.
The reason being that you may want to recycle your monsters instead of removing them. I know you can bring it out and it's a nice beat stick, but other than that, what else does it contribute to the overall strategy of the deck?
I would also definitely run Summoner Monk in here as it is HIGHLY abusable with Birdman, has plenty of fuel with all of the spells, gives you access to Arcanite, and searches stratos and Reborn Tengu.
For the time being. I never get to play competitively so it doesn't matter too much anyway. At this point I'd be more thrilled if someone took the idea, ran with it, and topped at a YCS with something new and gave a shout out for where the idea came from.

Yea I know what you mean, haven't been to a regional myself in about a year... Just no time. I still play at the local level once in a while though. I may go to regionals or a YCS next time they have one in my area though.
Den- if you supply me with the cards I will run with it all the way to a YCS, AND have your name stamped all over my nascar suit (yeah I'd wear one, I don;t see why more people don't to YGO events).

Hahaha, unfortunately I don't have that kind of disposable income. Paying the mortgage comes before Yu-Gi-Oh.
Well if you win the lottery...offer will still be standing. I pulled two birdman along with my trish this past weekend. Now hopfully i can get my x3 tengu this weekend at the sneak peak
