I havent seen many posts about competetive 2.0 armies using omens and nexus sets. I personally think the best 2.0 sets they ever released were omens and nexus. Its a pity those sets weren't around that long before the game died.
Ill start off with one of my favourite 2.0 Armies
Lord Katalkus b 56
2 Hooded Assassins 110
tome of brass 33
cloak of shadow 8
leech troll * 36
relic breaker 25
swarmling ** 32
has spellbook, 1 relic, 3 figures have stealth for whole dial, a healer, can summon 3 of the figures back. and four of the five figures have toughness
There were quite a few really good pieces in both sets, I admit. Here's an army I came up with which was actually quite powerful. I built it more for looks than anything, but it turned out to be even better than I had originally assumed it would be. It's constructed out of nothing but Omens and Nexus figures, except for a few spells and an item.
I'm not sure how competitive it is, but it sure is fun:
Heddravalis with inferno
**Solonavi Destroyer with stone of scrying
Each one can deal with the threat that the other one is weak to. They both fly and have 19 and 21 inch bound (or 29" if you work it right) and both are an effective 20 defense in the air with a 13 attack. Some environments can seriously mess with them, but they can back each other up well.
The lack of pierce is sad but charge and crushing blow are nothing to sneeze at.
Geddion is a solid figure, and Spirit Armor makes the whole army much more dangerous. The Rivvenguard can go toe-to-toe with Rava, and the Gate Knight is an excellent secondary threat in both melee and at range. The Centaur provides some much-needed auto-damage, and the Acolyte some healing. The army does have some weaknesses, especially to range-proof soaring guys that can shoot (e.g. Heddravalis with Inferno, or something like that), but I think it's pretty solid.
I prefer my armies to have a little toughness (well at least the healers). Too much ram venom trample going around. Or worse someone plays Pestilence and just sits back and kills the army from a distance.

Pestilence can be countered by your own play. But frankly I think it should never have been made. You shouldn't have to discount 2/3 of the figures in MK because of an environment.
If you have 3 or more figs in an army that dont have toughness Pestilence will pretty much wipe that army unless you have healers or something to bring them back. I agree pestilence is way too powerful domain.
Another good range army is
tempest priest ** 34
teaching of the true (spellbook) 36
Judge blacklock 80
Heddravalis 113
Inferno 35
They just fly around shooting stuff
If the tempest priest take 2 wolfs kin spells everyone can pretty much heal themselves.
Lord it's been years since I even thought about domains! I guess with the EL army I posted, I'd run something like:
Time of Mists
Downpour
Smoke and Fog
Rain and Mud
Time of Mists is an ace in the hole against pretty much anything especially if I stick Spirit Armor on the Gate Knight. Downpour grounds fliers, and Smoke and Fog and Rain and Mud level the playing field against higher ranges or speeds respectively. I would consider ditching Smoke and Fog for Eye of the Storm if I felt Pestilence or Death would be a big issue.
That's a good one. If you sub Khan Podo for Doom Brother, you'll have quite a few extra points to play with. Maybe enough for couple marauders or an ub khan or **orc slaver.
The defend isn't so much the focus with Doombrother, it's more the leadership. With him, I can have either KR or the UK attacking every turn, the defend is more just a bonus. Also he makes a pretty nasty backup melee fig for late game. From his second click you can do a ramming surge into a ten attack three damage sweep. Took down Vorgoth with that once. Before Dark riders I would use Zeph for this but he functionally pretty useless as a melee piece, a supreme action token sponge but that's it. Doombrother added a lot more flexibility even though it lowered my unit total. Plus it's faction pure which I love.
I did add Podo in when I modified this for 500 pt games once Omens came out. Usually with the clansword and also Inferno on Rava. And of course more marauders. Never did get a Nexus slaver =(.
