Lightning palm spell -- Normal damage with 1d6&action token
Lightning palm text:
Give the caster a close combat action targeting a single opposing figure. If the caster has a wand attack bonus, you may use that for this attack. If the attack suceeds, roll 1 six sided die and add 1 to the result for each action token on the target. Deal damage to the target equal to the result.
Now since you gave the caster a Close Combat Action, you deal the NORMAL damage value and on top of that you add ANOTHER 1d6 plus action token damage to the opposing figure. The 1d6 plus action token roll is NOT a replacement value as it would be normally worded for the other spells that's why you deal it separate from the normal damage. Refer to weaponmaster and thunderblow...
I don't think that you get to deal your base Close Combat damage along with the 1d6+1/action token. You have to give the Close Combat action to cast the spell. Accordingly, you aren't using the Close Combat action to make an attack, which is what allows you to deal your printed damage. A close combat action is a type of action. The action allows you to either make a close combat attack OR trigger a special ability that requires a close combat action.
The Lightning Palm attack is done instead of a normal close combat attack. It does require a Close Combat action to use, but if the attack succeeds, the 1d6 damage dealt is the actual damage dealt; it does not stack with the figure's normal damage value. Basically, it's like making a Weapon Master attack with the Wand figure (with the potential for bonus damage depending on action tokens).
(For what it's worth, I should note that even if the 1d6 did add to the damage, which it doesn't, the Rule of 3 would have applied meaning anything over a 3 would have been just a 3. But that's moot since the damage is a replacement anyway).
