1. If Player A's Lightpulsar Dragon in play is destroyed and he special summons Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon from his hand, does he miss the timing to use Lightpulsar's effect?
2. Player A's Lightpulsar Dragon attacks Player B's Machina Fortress. Both are destroyed. Player A special summons Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from his graveyard, and Player B says that he can destroy REDMD with Fortress's effect. Who is correct, and how would the effects resolve?
1.) I believe you can choose to activate both Light Pulsar Dragon's and Interplanetarypurplythorny (what the hell were they thinking when they made this name?) Dragon's effect into a Chain and, since they're both Player A's monsters, they can choose the order that they go and resolve.
2.) As Machiner's Fortress' effect of destroying 1 opponent's card is mandatory while Light Pulsar Dragon's effect is optional, Machiner's Fortress' effect will begin as Chain Link 1 followed by, should Player A choose to activate it, Light Pulsar Dragon's effect as Chain Link 2 and resolve accordingly.
Chain Link 1 - Player B's Machiner's Fortress activates and opponent selects card to destroy at this time.
Chain Link 2 - Player A chooses to activate Light Pulsar Dragon and selects the Level 5+ DARK monster in their Graveyard to Special Summon. In this case, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.
No response; Chain resolves.
Chain Link 2 - Light Pulsar Dragon resolves and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon is Special Summoned.
Chain Link 1 - Machiner's Fortress resolves and the targeted card is destroyed.
The target to destroy is selected at Machiner's Fortress' activation, not when it resolves, so REDMD is untouched by Fortress.
